LSU Tigers (official thread)

So Nutria... I was talking to my dad the other day and I want your opinion on something.
Obviously this win was great.... for this year.. but if beating bama and winning the SEC gives Ed a contract extension... is it worth it?

he got one last year. and with a new AD, not 100% certain hel get another this year.

i’m more concerned with the buyouts than the contracts.
the Les Miles contract was not friendly to LSU at all and was expensive as hell to get out of it.

Don’t make the same mistake with this coach based off the emotion of a single season.

to add to that:

the list schools that would hire him away from LSU is not a long one.
of those schools, the list that could hire him away from LSU is even shorter.

it would take multiple Championship caliber seasons for O to have more leverage than LSU in contract negotiations.

i trust our current AD a lot more than our old one to make the right call here.

a long term heavy buyout contract would be just dumb at this point as it isn’t even remotely necessary to keep him.
and it’s not needed for recruiting purposes either, because he’s doing just fine without it right now.

Our current AD gave jimbo a $75,000,000 contract with no buyout, guaranteed money.

O has beaten 9 top 10 teams since then and it's kicking Saban's ass in recruiting.

When he makes the playoff this year, he'll deserve a big raise. I agree with nootch on the buyout but I'm not blind and can see what O is doing. I am now officially on the O train.

"Roll Tide What? Fuck you!"
