Class:2015 (High School)

Kennard, a 6-4? lefty who led his junior high to a two-year record of 35-0, is being courted by UD and visited the school this summer along with his parents and Franklin coach Brian Bales. Michigan hosted Kennard on a visit, and he has an upcoming trip scheduled to Ohio State. He?s also hearing from Cincinnati, Xavier, Indiana and North Carolina.

?I think it?s pretty crazy, getting all this right now,? Kennard said. ?I?m just focused on Franklin and being a good teammate and working hard and trying to make our team better.?

I am from Franklin. Kennard is the real deal. He is a legit 6'5" now. He also plays backup QB for our varsity football team. As a matter of fact, he had an 18 yd. rushing TD Friday night. His first one on the varsity level.

He comes from a long line of UK Wildcat basketball fans, so I'm sure that is his ultimate dream, but regardless, he will play D1 somewhere.

Can you give an update on your recruitment? What schools have shown the most interest lately?
?Right now Michigan and Ohio State are probably the most that I?ve talked to. I?ve talked to Indiana a lot, West Virginia. I think I have a few scheduled workouts with some colleges here soon. I just took a recent trip to North Carolina and I talked to Louisville too.?

Here were comments from Kennard on several of his top choices:

* On Ohio State ? ?Their coaching staff is unbelievable. I love Coach Matta and the assistant coaches. They just built a new practice facility which will be very nice. We are going to go up there early this summer.?

* On Indiana ? ?Again, the coaching staff is great. I went over there and played open gym with them this past year. It was awesome. You can just tell how he keeps the team together and they are like brothers to each other.?

* On West Virginia ? ?Coach Huggins is a great guy. I love him a lot. They have a facility that has everything in it. It may be one of the best in the country. It?s unbelievable.?

* On Michigan ? ?We rooted for them the entire tournament. Their style of play ? they say I would fit in perfectly there and I could see myself there.?

Kennard said he is in no hurry to make a decision.

?I will start narrowing it down in the next year,? he said. ?I will probably wait until my senior year to make a decision.?

Michigan target Luke Kennard was one of the top wings in attendance according to a number of outlets. A friend of the blog was in attendance at the event and provided a number of thoughts on Michigan targets, leading with Kennard:

He does a little bit of everything well. Can shoot it from deep or attack the rim. He showed a lot of aggression attacking the bucket and forcing the defense to converge on him all weekend long.

Kennard has had a huge spring and Michigan coaches tracked him steadily throughout the April evaluation period. A June 15th offer appears inevitable but Ohio State, North Carolina and Indiana continue to intensify their recruitment of the 6-foot-6 junior, now ranked 32nd in his class by both Rivals and Scout.

Kennard was also singled out by Scout.com?s Evan Daniels and 247Sports? Jerry Meyer as one of the top wings in attendance.

Can you tell me about the schools who called you on Saturday?

?North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan, Butler, U of D, Clemson and a few more.?
Do you have a timeline for your decision?

?I?m pretty much just taking it as it comes. Me and my parents and my high school coach were just talking about possibly the beginning of junior year and on, but, you know, that can always change if I feel comfortable with that school.?

Are you close to narrowing down your list?

?We?re definitely going to have to be talking about it. There are a lot of schools, it?s hard to put them in a top five or a top 10. We?re just going to have to think about that and talk about it in the near future.?

You?ve been taking quite a few visits recently (to Indiana, North Carolina and Ohio State). Was there anything that stood out to you about those visits?

?Definitely just the facilities that they have. They?re unbelievable. Ohio State is building some new facilities, which are unbelievable. North Carolina?s are just awesome, and so are Indiana?s. So that really stood out to me. And just the coaching staffs on all the schools. They?re just great coaches, you can tell. Those are probably the things that stood out.?
Which schools are going after you the hardest recently?

?Recently there?s been Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana, Xavier, Butler. Duke?s been calling a lot, and so has Kentucky.?

ESPN 60 shooting guard Luke Kennard, the nation's No. 30 recruit in the Class of 2015, has offers from the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana, Dayton, Notre Dame, West Virginia and Xavier.

There isn?t a specific moment Luke Kennard remembers as the point he stopped being a regular kid and turned into a mini-celebrity in Franklin, Ohio. His new normal has been this way for two years now.

Friends will make a big deal. As he wanders around his hometown, occasionally people will give a second glance. Yes, the nation?s No. 30 hoops prospect in the Class of 2015 is only entering his junior year of high school and just turned 17. But in a town halfway between Cincinnati and Dayton, where the population of 11,819 would be less than half the enrollment of some of the major colleges trying to get him to play basketball for them, he is Franklin?s star.

?A lot of my friends, they think I?m famous now,? said Kennard, a shooting guard who holds offers from the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana, Dayton, Notre Dame, West Virginia and Xavier. ?Around quite a bit of places, when I walk around, they?ll kind of notice me.?
