Lynn Bowden (RB/WR Miami Dolphins)

The coach that recruited Bowden is from Youngstown, so they established a strong connection. Plus, he also had offers from Michigan & WVU, so it's not like he "settled" for Indiana. His family seems very happy, which makes me very happy. At the end of the day, that's all that matters.

FWIW, Shane Wynn is another great athlete that became a Hoosier & he went on to have a solid career. He was one few the best high school athletes that I've ever seen. Bowden has since joined him on that list. Not sure why Ohio State held out on offering. I could compare, but I don't want to knock any other recruits (or at least make it seem like I am).

I didn't know about his connections with any of the coaches. I'll defer to you when it comes to those things as you seem to be way more in the know than I am. I just read the "doesn't feel the need to go the extra mile" bit and felt that it was probably not the case...However, from what you've said, maybe it could be the case and still not necessarily reflect negatively on the kid. From what you've said, he has a good relationship with some of the coaches and wants to stick with that rather than push for an offer from a school that he doesn't have the same relationship with.

Quesrion to you, @Worm02...if Bowden had received an OSU offer, would he still have chosen Indiana because of the relationships? What about Oregon? Or is he pretty much solid to Indiana?

Any kid with an offer from Ohio State would give it serious consideration. That said, it's hard to play the "what if" game with Bowden because like I said earlier, his family is very happy with his decision, so I can't say how he'll react if/when he gets more offers moving forward. Ten years ago, WGH's Sidney Glover committed to Indiana early, only to eventually withdraw and sign with WVU. That said, I think that Bowden's commit is much stronger now than Glover's was back then.

Of course, Ohio State is the destination that most athletes in Ohio dream about all of their lives. That said, how many big time recruits chose Ohio State and when they got there, they rarely saw the field? I don't believe that would've/will be the case with Bowden, but I have no doubts that he'll play early at Indiana. Maybe Ohio State will eventually offer, but even if they do, I'm still surprised that they haven't already.

I don't doubt you @Worm02 when you say his commitment seems very strong and the family on board. But the reality is Indiana is going to have to recruit him from now until NLOID...and I'm sure they will.

Agreed. Indiana did what they had to do, but in no way am I suggesting that Bowden would ignore an Ohio State offer if it were to come down the line. That said, I doubt that he will automatically "seek a way out" of his current commitment just because it's to Indiana. If that makes any sense.

Another high quality talent that's a victim of the numbers crunch of 2017
If you are a DB or WR or ATH in OH this particular YEAR, you better be a national TOP150 talent like Harris and Riep are - or you will not be getting an OFFER from tOSU this particular year. With so many T50 DBs and WRs from out-of-state leaning our way, it just isn't in the cards.

I doubt any of Bowden, Danny Davis, Tyrell Ajian, or even JaVonte Richardson ( who I am most intrigued with in that group ) ever get an OFFER. The talent pool highly interested in us this year is just too deep and too 5* and HIGH 4* rich! Maybe one of those 4 might if a lot of others fall through - but will they be willing to wait? Or will they be set wherever they chose and not be willing to flip late?
