I need to borrow a line from Chris Rock on this one: Ron Artest laying on the scorer's table was his way of saying, "Look at me everyone! This is me not fighting, not being a belligerent jackass - like I always am! This is me not getting fined by the NBA!"

It's as if he was bringing attention to shit HE'S SUPPOSED TO DO ANYWAY. Low expectation havin' motherfucker! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A JACKASS! You can't waltz through life being a jackass everywhere you go, and then expect to receive praise for not being a jackass for the one instance you supposedely tried not to be one.

I've seen a lot of fights in a lot of different sports, and I've never once seen a guy take a hit like Artest did from Wallace and then just sit down on the bench. You're a doctor - you should know that men have these things called testicles that make it hard to back down when you get directly challenged.

Go back to the bench. :slappy: Totally fucking unrealistic.

___

You're right, buckzip. He didn't want to fight Wallace, so he went charging immediately into the stands where the angelic fucking fans were sipping chocolate milk and waiting calmly for the game to end.

Good fucking christ this is funny.

So instead of fighting Wallace (which 80% of other players would have done) or go back to the bench or otherwise just standing around (what the other 19.99% of players would have done), he chose to lay down right next to the fans acting like an ass (have you seen the video?). and you still claim that other players would have done the same thing?
And I thought your Jim Obrien arguments were retarded. :slappy:

The fact that you can speculate that a player like Grant Hill or KG would act so foolishly is shocking for a supposed NBA fan.

Speaking of not being able to read...I said it thrice.

Impossible to speculate.

I went on to say that there's no real way of knowing, and that to speculate is basically useless.

It's still impossible to speculate on what other players would have done.

___

You're right. lol 80% of the other players would have punched Wallace in the fucking face. That would have been much better than lying down, because lying down is a direct challenge/insult to the fans? An invitation to have beer thrown at you?

yes it is. Too bad a glass bottle wasn't thrown at him instead. No wait, this was Detroit, not Cleveland.

If Artest had the testicles you speak of he would have gone at Ben Wallace like he did the dork in the stands. Either he magically grew a set once Wallace wasn't around or he was finally done pissing himself. Justice would have been served if Wallace had beat his ignorant ass. That's what I was hoping for.

It always comes back to Cleveland with you. :shake:

I hate how some people feel his suspension is too heavy. I honestly feel he should be kicked out of the NBA for good. Frankly...I see no reason why the NBA can't do this legally. Plus...do they really want him in the NBA. Think about what kicking him out for good would do to the NBA...it might shift the image a little bit.

I worry about him being back in the NBA next year. Will fans throw things at him on purpose to get him started? He's going to be the most hated professional sports player.

My two cents on the issue...

Artest didn't have to foul Ben Wallace, the game was out of reach. Ben Wallace did not have to respond by flying off the handle, he could've gone straight to the foul line and none of this would've happened. The fan didn't have to throw a cup and ice at Artest, it's unacceptable behavior. Artest didn't have to go after the fan. Jackson didn't have to follow him. Fans shouldn't come onto the court. Jermaine O'Neal shouldn't have sucker punched the guy, it could've killed him.

Very few catastrophies occur because of a single bad decision by a single person. This all happened because each individual got caught up in the heat of the moment and made decisions that they wouldn't have made with the luxury of time for forethought.

VR nailed it...the fans are just as responsible for what happened. Players should never go into the stands, but fans should never throw things at the player. It's equal respnsibility. I think any player in the NBA could've made the same mistake when tensions rise and tempers flare. It's not a stretch to think Garnett would do the same. I'm not trying to dismiss the fact that Artest has a sketchy past, but bad decisions are not exclusive to those with past issues.

Artests actions demonstrate a pattern of bad decision making and I agree his penalty should be stiff. Jacksons penalty should be equal to that of Vernon Maxwell when he slugged the fan. Jermaine O'Neal should get no more than Ben Wallace because they both remained on the court, and hit another person.

Say what you will about dopey Indiana Pacer Ron Artest, but he wasn't the one at the center of last week's NBA brawl whose career has included felony convictions, a lengthy penitentiary stay, and three drunk driving collars. That distinction goes to the Detroit fan who initially showered Artest with beer, and later hit the athlete with a few rabbit punches. Oh, and the guy also happens to be on probation and legally barred from hitting the bottle. There's no place for a seat fighting man:

now the fans are getting punished finally
