At Nazareth restaurant on Hamilton Rd. One of my favorites. Holy crap.

Columbus police have shot and killed a man after they say he went into a Mediterranean restaurant on the Northeast Side this evening and attacked several patrons with a machete.

According to a dispatcher, police were called just after 6 p.m. to the Nazareth Restaurant, 5239 N. Hamilton Road. The dispatcher said that six people were transported to area hospitals from the restaurant, though their names and the extent of their injuries aren't known at this time.

The suspect then reportedly fled and was stopped by police about 5 miles away, off Stelzer Road and just south of Montclair Drive.

He was shot by police, the dispatcher said, and died at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center at 6:24 p.m.

Now that his name is known, we'll find out he's a recent adherent or something along those lines to ISIS and had posted somewhere on the internet (people always do it seems) of his intent to make attacks occur over here.

The suspected attacker is a Somali national named Mohammad Barry, CBS reports. There are also reports that Barry was on a terrorist watchlist.

“Law enforcement is concerned that this incident has the hallmarks of the type of so-called “lone wolf” terrorist attack that they have been working to stop,” the report reads.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now assisting with the investigation, police spokesperson Todd Lindgren revealed. The FBI is well-known as the nation’s preeminent domestic counterterrorism agency.

Police Sgt. Rich Weiner said there did not seem to be any “rhyme or reason” for the attack. He did not reveal the name of the suspect and did not explain why the FBI had gotten involved in the investigation.

Pretty much that is what all this spy shit is correct.

They don't stop shit, they just watch it.

The ones they do stop generally have a government instigator behind it or involved undercover. Human intelligence is way better than signals intelligence.


I had a weird experience on this topic about a year and a half ago.

Not surprisingly (to me at least), the guy was on the FBI's radar but not being investigated actively.

They are being tight-lipped about what they found on his computer, which usually indicates they've found something and are running it down and looking for accomplices/contacts/etc.

I'm glad the restaurant re-opened. That's ultimately how you defeat terrorism once you kill the sorry shitbags - you don't let it change your way of life.
