Concussions in football games are taken more seriously than ever before. And going forward, that will hold true in the next edition of the "Madden" football video game franchise when concussed players won't be allowed to return to the field in the game they are injured.

"Concussions are such a big thing, it has to be a big thing in the video game," Madden told The New York Times in a telephone interview. "It starts with young kids -- they start in video games. I think the osmosis is if you get a concussion, that's a serious thing and you shouldn't play. Or leading with the head that you want to eliminate. We want that message to be strong."

A bigger thing is double hit tackles, consecutive hit tackles, and no motion shifting... I'm 90% sure they won't be addressed though. If they aren't I will not buy this game again. I didn't buy madden 11 and I refuse to support this sub-par crap put out by EA.

I am not buying another Madden for a while.... Not until I really really see drastic improvement.

Even without a lockout, I decided I was done with Madden for awhile. I only played a few games from this years version and hated it. It was terrible.

offtopic alert: I've never bought a madden game in my life. I played one season long ago with a friend and it allowed you to redraft the entire league and play the season out with your newly drafted team. do the newer maddens still do that? if only some do could you tell me which ones?

Yup, and it's the only reason I even buy it anymore.

I usually auto-draft a team (so there are holes and retarded personal decisions, makes building the team more challenging/fun), move the team, build through the draft and sign young free agents to see progress with the team. It's fun. I sim it.. I don't even play it. I can beat the computer by 100 if I really want. No fun in actually playing the game anymore. :(

I agree 100%.... But the gameplay vids I have seen for 12 so far look very promising.... I wonder if they ramped up the effort for this year because they were unsure if the lockout was going to last into the season and kill sales.
