I'm just a common fan. No real ties to TOSU, other than paying for my children's education there. How I wish I had the opportunity or the means to attend when I was of college age. But the fact that I didn't attend does not mean I don't have very strong feelings for "OUR" university. I was born and raised in OH-IO and live here today. I've followed "OUR" football team since I was old enough to know what a football was. I am 49 years old and just saw my first live OSU game in 2002, a down right religious experience, I kid you not! I have many friends and acquaintances that are much like me.... people with no real ties other than HEARTSTRINGS, or maybe an offspring or two who attend there. Most have never been to "OUR" stadium but they bleed scarlet and grey just the same.

I'm sure that most of you know that "OUR" stadium is just that. Built largely with the hard earned money of people like you and me. "OUR" University the same. When OSU was built it was done so by Ohioans for Ohioans so their children could receive an education. It was done with love. Love for their children and the desire to see them succeed. Is there any wonder why "OUR" university is THE OHIO STATE University? Is there any wonder why "OUR" university has grown so? Is there any wonder why so many bleed scarlet and grey?

Are we going to allow some shoddy journalist and the company he works for to try and defame "OUR" university? WE need to make a stand people, and we need to make it now! I encourage anyone and everyone to do something, anything, just let your voice be heard. Let them know that we are many, that we love "OUR" institution and all that it encompasses, that yellow journalism will not bring us down. But, in fact their lies and lack of proper journalistic integrity will only hurt them instead.

I have already sent the following to [email protected].

You must not have any journalistic integrity. If you did then you would not have attacked TOSU, its staff, alumni, and its fans in the manner you have chosen. To print anything told to you without proper investigation or proper balance is not doing anyone justice. Then, to justify your slander you conduct one-sided interviews, ask misleading questions, and basically lie. You are not being true to your profession; then again I suppose you’re just a lemming. How do you expect people to "decide for themselves" when you paint such a blatant picture? I now know why it's called "spin control”, you eSPIN a story and leave everyone else to try and control it.

Do not underestimate TOSU, its alumni, staff or fans. We are many and we are very angry. We want retribution and we will have it. If ESPiN is unwilling to give fair and balanced news then maybe there will be another that will. For now we want you to resign or be fired (preferably fired as it is more appropriate for you). We will also be boycotting ESPiN and its magazine. Further, I truly hope that there is some legal action taken against you, ESPiN, and ESPiN the Ragazine.

I liked the passion you showed for the OSU in the beginning of your post, but then..... :( . You had to send an e-mail. Cancel your subscription, boycott the website, but don't send an e-mail (unless it is an e-mail explaining why you are cancelling your subscription). The e-mail only gives fuel to their fire....shows a job well done. They want contreversy. They want response. That guy can go to his editor and say...look at all of the e-mail responses that I got from this article....shows people are interested....waiting for the next installment. They don't really give a shit what the e-mails say. For them, e-mails are just proof that their trash is being read.

i think we should start sending emails all over the country claiming to be meshitagain fans. anytime somebody writes something negative about meshitagain we all write emails like the one above. especially to ivan mandel and beano cook. that way they will start to hate scUM and the next expose will be about them.

Now, that's a plan

Thank for the constructive comments. My first thread and I'm overly passionate I guess. I only e-mailed once. but posted it (the email) in a lot of different threads in hopes of getting people to act. You may be right about e-mailing them but to do nothing is more harmful and to cancel and/or boycott them just seems like I'm doing nothing.

IMHO name calling will only cause Friend and ESPN to circle the wagons and mumble to themselves that the great unwashed in the hinterlands is being heard from.
My approach, while it led in by suggesting they were guilty of yellow journalism, was to send them excerpts of Pagac and Carter's denial and clarification comments. There is so much swirling around this subject that we cannot suppose these creeps read all the different articles pertaining to the subject on their own. It seems to me that it helps to give them some FACTS to gnaw on.
Some days earlier I sent emails to the PR or marketing people at Home Depot, Orbitz, and ?? suggesting they would be hurt by association with the attacks on OSU that were innuendo and unsupported. Probably won't help much, but if they get several, it could give them motivation to press ESPN about "what is going on?" :(

Go Bucks!

I agree, the only stand against ESPN is to not pay attention to them at all. The stand I made is that I sent a short email to Jim Tressel thanking him for a job well done and a word of support about people who are trying to ruin everything he and his team worked for.

He responded "Thanks David !!! God bless ....Go Bucks !! jim t".
