I consider it a good basketball season when Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina are eliminated. Throw in a crushing defeat of Notre Dame and that's the cherry on the sundae. Too bad all this didn't take place sooner, but hey.

Sparty's humiliation wasn't bad either. Little brother had been getting a bit full of himself, culminating with Cook's dissing Archie after the B1G title game.

They needed to get their asses kicked...twice.

You forgot the part that is most important to true Buckeyes--Michigan losing in the first round, and getting outscored by 19 in the second half in the process.

Surprised no one else has mentioned this, but Williams continues to disappoint when his team can't out-talent the opponent.
It probably would not have made a difference in the game-winning shot but if I had been coaching UNC, I would have put a big man on the inbounds passer. You never know what guys are going to do under a little duress.

Now THAT, was a great game. Amazing to be able to watch.
I've been watching final fours since the early 70's. That was the best game plus ending I've seen in the championship. And the NCAA needed it because those semifinal games were duds.

I just like seeing good basketball - after not seeing a lot of it from my rooting interests this year. Sometimes you get drama because of bad play. Somebody chokes, or the game is a foul fest, or there are stupid plays all over the place. This was a well-played game by two very good teams. It was competitive throughout with both teams getting leads in the 5 to 7 point range, and then the other team would fight and scratch. I expected one team to spurt at the end and stretch it out, and I thought that was what was happening with Nova with that 10 point lead, but what Carolina did to erase it was amazing. Some Tar Heel fans are complaining about officiating with a few ticky tack fouls late, but the bottom line is they tied it on Paige's miraculous shot, and only needed to defend for 4.7 sec to get the game to OT. They didn't, and that's on them. It wasn't bad D, but you would think that someone should have been assigned to Jenkins all over the court given his ability to shoot.

....Some Tar Heel fans are complaining about officiating with a few ticky tack fouls late....

There are teams whose fans deserve the right to bitch about calls, but UNC, Duke and Kentucky fans are not among them.

The end brings back memories of Christian Laetner killing Kentucky on a last second heave with even less time on the clock. Too bad he played for Duke, but then there aren't a whole lot of Duke fans living in Cincinnati...

Carolina fans may be the only legit rival to UK fans in terms of arrogance. Both fan bases are massive - which distinguishes them from Duke.

I had this roommate in college who was a UNC fan. I'd be watching some CBB game on my TV, and he would come in and switch the channel to a Carolina game. I was like, "Who do you think you are?". He would just look at me and say, "Carolina's on." and I was supposed to understand that. I would have to switch it back and then he would go pout somewhere. And that dude was serious. He couldn't imagine that anyone would want to watch someone other than the Tar Heels. That's where my dislike of UNC originated.

At the same time, even tho I fail often at it, I try to not be a small person that resents people for their success. The programs you mentioned have had a lot of success, and have a lot of reason for their arrogance. It's what Ohio State fans are accused of/guilty of (?) in terms of football. People hate our guts, and when you get right down to it, it's because Ohio State football has won more than people like.

I guess I'm suggesting we resent the arrogant and obnoxious, but try to not define an entire institution and fan base by our worst experiences with them.
