Mark Mangino Under Tressel?

Riptide

National Champs in 2006
Did anyone know that Mark Mangino used to be offensive coordinator under Tressel at YSU?

The guy later went on to fill the OC role at Oklahoma under Stoops and then left to take the Kansas job.

He ran a one-back spread at OU and he runs one now at Kansas.

Anyone catch any of the YSU games when Mangino was OC there?

So if Mangino and Weis did a chest-bump with poor JT stuck in between, would JT then slip right into a sidewalk crack? And if he did, would he then have SEC speed?

Mike Stoops and Bob Stoops are sons of Ron Stoops who was the D-Co-ordinator of CardinaL Mooney in Youngstown Ohio back in 1987 before his death at age of 46. Both are now coaches at Arizona and Oklahoma. They also have a good friend in Mark Pelini (Bo) who is now the head coach of Nebraska. Mark Pelini played for OHIo State in 1990 under John Cooper. All 3 graduated from Cardinal Mooney High in Youngstown OHio. Thats quite a statement within it self to say that 3 coaches in the Division 1 rankings all came from the same high school and are sucessfull in thier jobs today.

Honestly, I know the fat jokes are cute and all, but Mangino is a good coach. He is no where near the arrogant bastard that is Charlie Weiss who desrves every single joke he gets since he considers himself so superior to other coaches. He rode the coattails of a great coach and a great defense, left, saw his former offense actually get better, can't coach a lick of football, and still thinks himself superior. Mangino on the other hand is a good coach with a weight problem, abeit it a serious one. Yet he does a good job, and no reason he should be randomly ridiculed.

I find it ironic that a man that teaches discipline seems to have very little, if any self control.
