Mark Sanchez (Philadelphia Eagles)

Williams camped here last summer and earned an offer so I'm less than worried about their comments about him. Didn't one of the coaches say he had the quickest first step he'd seen? It's always comical watching people badmouth these players. Ryan will be laughing all the way to Columbus. Hopefully Sanchez and Bemoll join him.

It's puzzling that USC did not consider MV OT Bemoll at all and offered Nick Howell instead. Such decision may have upset coach Johnson, who in the past has had a good relationship with USC recruiters. The fact that Williams is already a OSU commit and close friend of both Bemoll and QB Sanchez may help things for the buckeyes.

Everybody would like to get Mark Sanchez, including us, but with Leinart, Booty, Hart and incoming FR Rocky Hinds, I don't see how Sanchez could see any PT for the Trojans in the next two to three years.

I suspect that's why Sanchez isn't a Trojan at this point. Of all the schools he's mentioning interest in us and Notre Dame probably provides the best opportunity for PT in the immediate future, and neither one is all that good with Brady Quinn at South Bend and Zwick and Smith in Columbus. It will be very interesting to see how it turns out. With Ryan Williams already in the fold and the fact Sanchez really enjoyed his visit here I suspect if there wasn't a huge question mark regarding our passing game we'd be in the driver's seat. For all I know, we already may be.

Has Forcier been offered or not? I know some are saying that both him and Scherer were, but I haven't seen confirmation that either has yet.

Not sure on Forcier but Sherer doesn't have an offer according to the latest Kurelic update from today. I forget where I read it but Forcier was quoted as saying he realized he probably had to wait on Sanchez and Schoenhoft to decide before he got a Buckeye offer.

I think that both Sanchez and Bemoll will commit to OSU, probably before the end of the summer. Sanchez wants playing time, and OSU's QB situation is not solid (only 3 QB's, nonw proven, one better suited for another position); he's visited and liked his visit; his fiend and teammate (Bemoll) claims that OSU leads. Bemoll is high on OSU because of his friend Williams; he originally liked the Florida schools, buts admits that he is taking OSU seriously because Williams is a commitment, and Sanchez is strongly considering the Bucks; Bemoll could be the bookend tackle with Alex Boone, the number one (in my book) OT prospect in the country - what a line they would make, especially blocking for a 5* QB (Sanchez) and a 5* RB (Wells)! Bemoll visits on July 9th, with Williams. Sometime thereafter, I anticipate that the three of them will sit down to discuss to OSU situation. My guess - they all will like OSU for various reasons (Williams - childhood favorite, ties to Ohio; Sanchez - ability to start early in his career; Bemoll - ability to play with his friends on a potentially great OL / offense), and they will all end up at Ohio State.

Feel free to shoot my theory down....

How would a big season by Zwick or Smith affect Sanchez?
Last year, we constantly heard from detractors how OSU's lack of offensive production would scare off all of the top offensive players; one noted analyst even blamed OSU's offensive woes for the Bucks' loss of Xavier Lee (in part), Fred Davis (the noted safety from Toledo), and Mario Manningham. Now, the implication running on this board is that a big season from Zwick or Smith (or Boeckman) will scare off all of the QB prospects. Well, pick your poison - either our offense sucks, and no QB's will come, because they will look bad; or our offense is stellar, and no QB's will come, because they will sit for four years.

Florida State, for example, has always been able to attract top QB's, regardless of the level of competition, because the players feel that it is the Seminoles' system which makes the QB's look good. Michigan has always been able to attract top QB's, regardless of the level of competition, because the team wins and the QB's go pro. I'm sure that the coaching staff for Ohio State can figure out some angle to "sell" to the kids - maybe the chance to win a national championship during the next four years?

I think if Zwick has a big year it will less likely affect Sanchez, b/c smith would likely move to another position, and if zwick had two huge years he could be in the nfl and smith already at another position leaves the door for a sanchez/boekman battle. but if smith has a huge year, there isnt newhere for zwick to go to. This is at least my thought.

LJB, your theory is plausible, and it's definitely what I'm hoping for.

As far as Zwick/Smith's performance affecting Sanchez, I wouldn't discount the idea that the addition of Sanchez would allow the Bucks to move Smith and take advantage of his athleticism. Also, I would bet that somebody is making sure that Sanchez knows about that.

Finally, no matter what happens with Sanchez and Bemoll, I think it has become clear that OSU is not just getting a good player in Williams, but also an excellent leader. Also it speaks well for his character that two guys might be willing to follow him across the country to a place that just a couple months ago they seemingly weren't considering.

Great point jlb1705 regarding Williams leadership. I am not sure how great their friendships are, but if Bemoll is coming to visit OSU with Williams, I would venture to say that they are great friends. EdBuck also made a good point in that if Sanchez commits before school starts, then it really does not matter. Competition always make you better if you have that attitude, and I hope Sanchez does. He sounded like he likes the coaching staff, the tradition and the campus itself during his visit.

Excellent point!

I've read quite a bit about Sanchez, and it does sound like he wants to commit before school starts. If that is truly the case, it really doesn't matter what kind of season OSU's QB has.
Another good point!

Gold stars for both of you!
