Marvel Cinematic Universe

Been avoiding this thread until I could finally watch Spiderman. What'd I miss?

So calmer heads prevailed. Disney pays 25% and gets 25% rather than paying nothing and getting 5%. Still get all the merch. Smart move by Sony. I think Marvel could have pretended Peter Parker didn't exist easier than Sony could make Peter forget about the Avengers. They probably could have made one movie where Spider-Man is to busy to worry about anything in the MCU, but after that they would end up having to reboot again. Be funny if they pulled one over on Sony and made the Spider-Man movie then used the MCU movie to turn Tom Holland into Tony Stark Jr.

Question for those who love these movies since we have some time. My kid loves Marvel. He just turned 7. He’s had Marvel toys since he was 3, Marvel Legos since he was 5, and he’s watched the newer cartoons (which are pretty violent) so he knows most of the characters. He has also watched all the Star Wars movies with no problem. My question is...is he old enough for the Marvel Movies yet? I feel like they are somewhere in between Star Wars (again, no problem) and the Nolan Batman trilogy (too intense for a 7 YO), but I’m not sure which end they lean towards.

Thoughts?

FWIW, Commonsensemedia rates all the MCU movies for ages 10-13+, although I tend to subtract subtract a few years from their ratings for my own kids.

My 10 year old daughter loves the MCU and has seen them all (Dr Strange is her fave interestingly), and while my just-turned-8 daughter isn’t as into the genre, she has seen a lot of them with no ill effects. I’m trying to get my nephews into it now, and I feel like Spiderman: Homecoming could be the one to hook them.

My currently 9 year old daughter has been going to all the MCU movies with me since Captain Marvel. IIRC the whole family went to see CM in the theater. We busted through the entire MCU between Infinity War and Endgame. I let my 6 year old son watch them too, but 2-3 hour moves is a big ask for his attention span so I wouldn't take him to the theater. My daughter is a champ so she's my Star Wars/MCU theater buddy.

Our two youngest are 10 & 11. They've been watching the movies since about age 6 and have gone to every movie in the theater since Thor: Ragnarok in late 2017.
