Maryland WR Stefon Diggs (official thread)

Elite WR Diggs remains open
January, 10, 2012
By Derek Tyson

With signing day less than a month away you would think top wide receiver Stefon Diggs (Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) would be closing in on making his decision. Diggs, however, says he?s nowhere near ready to make a college choice.

?I don?t have a leader or top five or anything like that,? Diggs said Tuesday night. ?I?m wide open, and I?m planning on waiting until after signing day to make my final decision.?

Diggs, ranked the No.10 player in the country by the ESPNU 150, will visit Auburn this weekend but said he?s not sure what his plans will be in the future.

Kids being kids will see the domino's start to fall and jump before signing day.

Or Meyer sees a way to play into their wishes and works both Neal and Diggs into post signing day declarations for the good guys. -You know the way he works until the very end. It may play into his approach, a "silver lining" thinking on my part.

I am starting to wonder how aware these two are of each other. Similar abilities, similar reviews/ratings, and maybe end up being used in college much the same way. Now both are strongly considering waiting until after signing day to make a decision.

These two could certainly make the offense cook then year even though some believe either or both could play CB. With Meyer at the helm I can't see them anywhere but with the ball in their hands.

Just read on a Florida recruiting site about diggs response to their new hire of Boise state OC. QUOTE" It's a great hire for US" also goes on to say he will definately be visiting Florida and is now a heavy lean. His long time friend and room mate at the AS game also said this has sealed the deal for him at Florida.

Hopefully we can seal the deal with Neal this weekend and land one of these explosive players. Let's go Urban work your magic. Maybe the reason for the interest in Madaris also.

Thanks for the link. There are lots of reasons it's important to include on when you add some info to a thread - to give credit to the people who are actually doing the legwork and drive traffic to their sites. Also, it gives the rest of us a chance to read it for ourselves.

It will be interesting to see how this overall situation shakes over the medium term. During the Gator bowl telecast the announcers went on and on about how Muschamp reiterated in pre-bowl press meetings that he was going to run a pro-set and get back to playing power football. Now all the recruits seem to think Boise's system will be put in place. Perhaps controlling the offensive system was the trump card in getting Pease to UF.

There never seemed to be much more than token interest in OSU from Diggs. At this point it looks like Neal, Caleb, or on to '13.

There seems to be definite credibility here, and I saw ESPN had the rumor mill discussing UF leading the way for Diggs. He seems to continue to put off the OSU visit time after time, but if UFM manages to get him in Columbus I just can't help but think we still are a contender for this kid. Maybe Urban is just waiting for a nice weather weekend so the kid doesn't come up here in the snow and then turn around and run down to Florida to commit
