Spieth has been fighting his driver in recent weeks.

The fact that he still shot that score with the horrible driving us a testament to him as a player.

Very Tigeresque actually.

Which is why he might have thought about hitting the 3 wood to keep it in play. The chip on 18 was tremendously weak and not to his normal standards. That was huge dropping three strokes coming in. He let a number of the field back in. Hardly Tigeresque...Tiger would have distanced himself even more....

That said, I want to see him go back to back....

Just when it looked like Spieth was pulling away from the field, he bogeyed 10 and 11 then imploded on 12.

I don't think I've ever seen a player go from 5 ahead to 3 behind in just 3 holes.

I'm certainly not a golf wonk, but who the hell is Danny Willett? I guess "Masters' champion" may be the answer in about an hour.

Somehow the 12th ranked player in the world.

Read he was a sleeper pick at like 50-1 odds. Crazy a Top-15 player could lay those odds.

Looks like he plays about half of his tournaments on the European tour. It'll be big news across the pond if he holds on. Faldo is the only Englishman to win the Masters, so far.

Willet's obviously been winning something before today. This prize is back home, due to have a baby soon.

My guess is he turns into the next Immelman/Schwartzel and is rarely if ever heard from again....

Crazy round by Spieth. Solid as hell front 9, but epic meltdown on the first 3 holes of the backside. Nice come back though after the 12th. Just to be able to maintain composure after that is amazing.

Oh my. You took the words right out of my mouth - almost word for word.

You could see that he was struggling off the tee, hitting it to the right, but his putter kept limiting the damage or saving him. And all of that reminded me so much of Tiger.

Andy North said you could take moments of his first 3 rounds and make a case that he was holding it together with duct tape and baling wire. It just goes to show you what flaws making 10-15 foot par putts can cover.

But his putter couldn't help him get the ball on the green at 12. Not putting the ball in the drop zone after the mistake on the tee compounded his issue and ended up making a quadruple out of a double. I think he would have still been at -4 with a double and only 1 back.

I love Spieth's demeanor and his talent. But he drives me nuts with his pre-stroke routine. I have to DVR and FF to limit my frustration. Good Lord.
