McMullen Released by the Eagles

To the shitbreathed dork who gave me the negative reputation "I do believe Tibor came up with the joke of messing up LouisGonzalez's name": Uh, no dumbass...I'm the one who came up with "JoseJiminez". If you can't think of any other reason for giving me negative reps other than not "meeting your standards" for name calling (as in the other negative rep you gave me, "KNUCKLEDRAGGINGCHIMP is just a dumb nickname. not up to your standards. try harder"), then go find another site. Moron.

Bears haven't had good eye for Qb talent

Their recent trackrecord is none too impressive. That being said, I'd love for Krenzel to do well. His brains and keeping himself in shape could keep him in the league for awhile, like it did Tomczak.

BTW, it wasn't me who gave you a negative in your rep for calling me JJ.

Tressel Qb recruit Tupa gets moved to punter, Bellisari switched to safety, and Krenzel will likely have a very short career himself. It's painful to think that we can't recruit and do better when we are THE OSU.

H-Lo,
Tressel did not recruit them all.

I think we just discovered Dizneeland's BP screen name. Welcome aboard,
Diz.

Does anyone know what date fall camp opens ?

He recruited Tupa, I'm pretty sure

It was also his assessment that a NFL safety was best suited for Qb.

It's been his assessment that the least competent passer of those realistically available was the team's best Qb his first 3 years.

He didn't prefer passers at Youngstown State either.

The two main reasons any hotshot Qbs come to OSU is because of our reputation for producing big time wide-receivers which the Qb has the chance to throw to & which make them look good and because of the chance for playing for things beyond .500 win seasons. There are the additional things like the St. Henry's connection or a brother playing for Tressel. But in general, we get overlooked.

There's no reason Kent State, Toledo, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, and Miami should have had better Qbs than us recently.

Obviously you didn't follow YSU. While they never had any 3,000 passing yard seasons there, they had several solid passing QBs. Tressel went with what was best suited, which there was a strong running game. The few I-AA QBs that were top-notch passers (McNair, etc.) went to other schools.

Tressel is recruiting as a minimum of three of the four QBs that have been invited to the Elite 11 camp. What else do you want him to do...he has decades and decades of Ohio State being cast as a "three yards and a cloud of dust" to overcome. By the way, we do have two Elite 11 QBs on our team already (Zwick and Smith).

We all wanted Bellisari as a safety. He won the job because he was a senior and was the only qb with any experience.

Not sure what you're going for here. If you're knocking Krenzel, then you're way off base. If Louis prefers a pretty passer to the right qb for the system, then Louis is wrong.

He prefers championships. It's worked at Youngstown and it worked here. Obviously, his style puts more emphasis on smart , non mistake prone qb's.

Name that hotshot qb ?

I agree with you there. Although, Gino G. from Cinci is not good like the others.

Many posters have watched Tressel's YSU offenses: he doesn't like to pass. OSU should always have a good run game, so I guess what you're saying is to expect more of the same ? Well guess what: we won't recruit in any hotshot Qbs then.

OSU began its advance from 3 yards and a cloud of dust under Bruce and it got elevated to its pinnacle for the school under Cooper with Germaine and Co. Tressel has regressed to Earl's days imo and that's not a good thing. The touchdowns to picks over the first 3 years by OSU's starting Qb has been poor.

Tressel landed Zwick because of his brother's playing for Tressel and got Smith because no other schools would guarantee him a shot at Qb (& his list of suitors was comprised of West Virigina, Michigan State, Iowa, and some others, not exactly a whos who of college football or schools known for passing). He landed the kid from St. Henry's because of the school's ties to OSU. But he has not landed that marquee Qb based upon what Tressel's offense does upon the field and he never will if he doesn't change the offense imo. Cooper's problem was the games being played and allowed to be played by certain Qbs and players and their coaches knew about it. Players and coaches can very easily see the problems with Tressel's approach to the position too and it will cost us marquee prospects at the position.

Louis,
Steve Young,John Elway, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb,Carson Palmer. All great passers with no college championships.

Krenzel. Championship. Regardless of stats, he was the qb and a major reason we won.
