McMullen Released by the Eagles

IF Tressel had Clarett this year OSU'd have gone undefeated. Would you not agree ? See, I can be a positive IF too.

Rose Bowls are indicative of a coach who can coach in this league. Isn't that what we heard from all of the Earl Bruce supporters, John Cooper detractors ? Why isn't the same standard applied to Tressel ?

Again, IF my aunt had nuts, she'd be my uncle.

Uh, because the Fiesta Bowl was the championship game in 2002. I hope even that narrow mind of yours can figure out that it was more important than the Rose Bowl.

I don't call 2 Fiesta bowl wins in 2 years failure. If you do, then that's fine.
Sure, I would love to have beaten Michigan last year but they were just the better team.

We were big underdogs in both Fiesta Bowls. I'm sure you had us losing both games. Both teams we played came into the game playing as well as anyone.
After K St. stomped Oklahoma, no one thought we would win, but we did. Same with Miami. Now, if you can't see that's coaching, then you'll never understand.

I'm not adverse to OSU criticism. JT's not perfect, Krenzel was not perfect and I complained about both of them many times , but I can't compain very much about 25-2 in 2 years.

Could we have won it all last year with Mo C ? Maybe, but it was not Tressels' fault that Mo C did'nt play.

OSU should have beaten UM and been playing in Rose last year

We were far too talented to lose to them. Just how many NFL picks does Tressel need before he can have an offense which can carry the team, if at least, quit being a liability to it ?

Michigan had an offense last year that was as good as anyones. Who wouldn't like to have Perry, Edwards, Avant and others. They made us look like fools..... They were a better team and we were stomped.....

Louis have you been tested for Downs Syndrome?

Outcoached???? We missed tackles left and right. BRaylon Edwards was spliting our defense like a hot knife through butter....man you are insane.

Just because we had a ton of people drafted doesnt mean that we were the better team that day. Three of our offense linemen were drafted? We still didn't have an offense back go for over 1000 yards...

You have some really clouded logic.

well, some people thought it was a pretty poor decision by JT to go back to Krenzel in the 4th quarter, but the game was lost anyway. Krenzel had no business playing at all in the 2nd half.

I agree. I thought it was a bonehead decision to attempt to get Krenzel back in that game.

Louis, I find it ironic that our best offensive performance of the year was a game we lost because of our defense. Michigan's o-line dominated our d-line. Poor tackling was also major factor. Lloyd Carr will never outcoach JT or any other B11 coach for that matter. Regardeless of how many pro's Michigan has, they always have great teams.

You just have to wonder, how can our offense be so weak all year, yet look like gangbusters against a good Mich. defense ? If we had'nt fallen so far behind in that game, I'm sure our offense would have remained closed.

It's not all about NFL draftee's. If it was, than Miami would not have lost 2 games last year. Did'nt they have 4 first rounders?

Good point. Also, I thought our offense looked really good at times in the Fiesta. The potential is there within the system. I hope the O will get it done this year. We (with at least one notable exception) know the defense will.

You're right.

After all, we were only down 14 points with less than half a quarter to play, and besides McMullen had just...gone three-and-out after Gamble's interception with the Bucks only down by seven points, early in the 4th quarter. THAT was the possession that could've rescued victory from defeat, and the offense went nowhere with McMullen under center. Turns out he was human, too.

The fact is, OSU lost that game on defense, but the Legend of Scotty Mac will always say otherwise...

You forgot to mention brilliant playcalling by Tressel after Gamble pick

Having Ross run when he hadn't run well all day and didn't the entire game, putting OSU into obvious passing down. Having Childress in there who isn't worth a damn as a receiver. Tressel trying to outsmart people when all he needed to do was let McMullen let it rip. Krenzel and Tressel both deserve the blame for the end in the 4th quarter.

I'm sure the resident Michigan fans on this board will be more than accomodating in providing his record against top 10 teams. Is he better than Tressel, I don't think so because they are both equally stubborn in doing things. But Tressel has gotten outcoached many times as OSU's offensive coordinator.
