Well, it's not just giving. People have medals for any sort of contribution. Not just money. If they wrote an article, created a chart, brought in a significant number of people, etc. On top of that, all $ contributions were treated equally. The person who kicked in $5 got the same medal that the person who kicked in $300 did. We're all of different means, and one thing that's important to me is not creating different classes of users. Particularly not based on money contributions alone. We're not going to have an atmosphere where your experience is defined by your ability to pay something. I know I'm repeating myself now, but we all know why this is an important issue.

I appreciate everyone's comments, but I can't believe no one is strongly opposed to the medals and trophies. Surely there much be someone who thinks they're a bad idea, and/or should be implemented differently.

I don't mind the medals as long as like Clarity said there is no distinction b/w $$ and content, and at what levels. It is pretty cool, and as has been stated maybe it will help with those trying to "get sum". :biggrin:

What trophies? You are talking as though they are there. Do I have my settings wrong again?

I know that for awhile the arcade leaders had trophies up. It was kinda cool 'cause I had one. But I don't equate that with what is won in the non-arcade world. (The arcade stuff is actually much more important! lol)

I'm not concerned about a medal, however did you get the check I sent you a couple of months ago (or did you just forget me... not a problem at all, just wondering if I have a check floating around)...??

I missed a button click back when I was setting the medal flags on people's accounts. You had yours defined in the system, it just wasn't set to display. All fixed now, sorry about that. :wink:

I have to admit that there were a couple people whose contributions weren't recorded properly, but I think I've finally caught up with the last of those folks. In 2 cases I couldn't match the contribution to a username, in 1 it seems like we just never logged the entry. That drive was a definite learning process, we'll be much better prepared if/when we do the next drive. Back in Feb/March the consensus was that we should do 2 a year. That might still make the most sense, but I have to admit I haven't put much thought into the next one yet. Lol, I should though with the programmer looking like we might have the stats engine online at the end of next month.

Not a problem... my wife balances the check book, and she hasn't told me any checks were out from a while ago, so I assumed you forgot to "medal me"... just wanted to make sure (If you didn't get the check, then that would tell me we (my wife and I) might need to revist how the check book is balanced :tongue2: )
