I don't understand how some people still blame Drake for Urban Meyer's pride/arrogance/stupidity in keeping Zach Smith on his staff.

Meyer was dumb in keeping Smith but is that worth a three game suspension? As more facts have came out it seems that Smith's fiance was equally responsible for the craziness in that household.
It seems Drake was bowing to the mob and not the facts to suspend Meyer.

Urban never signed Smith’s checks. Ord for one says the Head Football Coach doesn’t run the University. The failure to handle Smith was an athletic and university failure. Thy made Urban the fall guy. The whole sham of a hearing and suspension was all to convenient to protect the University from litigation.

The fact is that, regardless of whether he was too hard on Meyer or not, he did an outstanding job and moved the university substantially forward by every metric that matters.
And as an added bonus, both the band and the football program became better after his changes.

He didn't sign the checks, but he was Smith's direct superior and Smith was brought onto the staff and kept there by Urban. It's not Drake's responsibility to micromanage the football staff, and when anything football related drops onto a university President's desk and he has to get involved, it's almost never going to be good.

Then pin it on Gene Smith and Urban Meyer together -- the people actually in charge of the football program who knew what was going on and let it continue. Drake isn't involved in the day-to-day goings-on at the WHAC -- that's why Smith & Meyer got paid big bucks. To do their job and represent the university well. They both failed at it in this instance.

I mean, obviously some people are dumb and/or biased and think it has to be either/or: Urban good, Drake bad, or vice versa. But I don't think it's unfair to hold Drake as president (along with the board) somewhat accountable for the shitty way the whole ordeal played out once it all came to light. The guy has been a great president for the university, but he was no PR master in fall of 2018.

So, it's been a while and I need some recs here:
