Deez,
It's bad news, no doubt. I can understand your frustration.

It certainly can't hurt to contact those making decisions to at least get
a straight answer.

The bottom line really is that it's all about the money. It's a big money machine that runs on the deep pockets of fat cats. Keep that in mind the next time you're asked for a donation. Just tell them you'll make a donation in their name to the human fund.

Good luck.

Deez,

This is big boy football. If it comes to taking $1000's from a corporation versus $100's from some schmuck alum like you and I, of course they are taking the big bucks. Someone has to pay for all the great facilities and the numerous teams tOSU has. They didn't take away your Meatchicken tickets just to piss you off. They made a mistake and tried to make it right with tickets to another game. It's all you can expect. Some times in business you make a mistake and do what you can to make it right. Stick around long enough and it will happen to you. Calm down. Be glad you are a alum and fan of one great university at a great moment in its football history. Life is too short. Enjoy.

I don't thiink you are going to find too many people here who haven't paid 10's of thousands of dollars to the university. I would imagine that most can at least empathise with your situation, but really, don't you think you are over reacting just a bit?

Obviously you guys aren't alums.
It was about now that it hit me, Deezeldogg was in full whine mode.
There are plenty of alumni on here, what of it? There are plenty of simple fans on here, not a surprise, this is "Buckeye Planet" after all.

Your complaint is that you were told one thing (Minny), then another (Michigan), then door number 3 opened up and Bowling Green popped through.

Guess what, you are not alone.

I have tickets to Bowling Green and - as this will be one of the few Buckeye games I get to see in the Shoe this year my reaction was - happy.

Happier if it had been Penn State, or Michigan, sure.

But this is Ohio State, tickets to which are a highly valued commodity, with much more demand than there is capacity.

Get used to it - this will not be the first year this happens.

I want to apologize to everyone for my overreaction yesterday. I've had some time to blow off some steam and think about the situation. I am still very disappointed and upset over the situation, but I realized I was being a bit selfish about the whole ordeal, especially considering that I've been to numerous Buckeye games and my share of Michigan games. I didn't mean to come off as a whiner, and I appreciate the understanding from those of you who didn't use the opportunity to bash me.

I guess I am most disappinted because:

1- I have no luck except bad luck. I am blessed that I have a great wife, we are healthy, have decent jobs, and enough money to survive. Getting the letter stating that I had won the lottery was one of the most awesome feelings ever! Finding out I didn't have the tickets was one of the worst feelings. Maybe I am just too fanatical.

2- I really wanted my wife to experience the Michigan game. We tried getting tickets 2 years ago and last year to Texas, but I wasn't paying $400 a ticket.

I am still really upset in the manner this was handled, and plan on doing everything I can to voice my concern to those who can address the situation so these things don't occur again. I think the university is doing a disservice to alums with this treatment. Another thing that bothers me is that the university has done little to deal with the scalping and resale problem. So now if I want to go to the game, I've got to take out a loan.

I will probably still support the Bucks. I don't really want to repaint my game in Clemson's orange and purple colors :) But I will no longer support the University in any type of financial manner.

Again thanks to all of those who let me vent.

You could have gotten tickets that Michigan game for right around $125, at least my buddy did, and he scalped tickets.

I had the same exact situation. Minnesota tickets. Won the Michigan lottery and now am stuck with Indiana or BGSU. I chose Indiana.

Everyone can complain and say that I'm lucky to have a pair of tickets but I'm really tired of Indiana or some weak non-conference opponent every year. The one year I got Penn State I was shut out and received a refund (over a year later I might add).

Finally I get something a little better in Minnesota only to wind up with a down grade to Indiana.

Extremely frustrating.

I will say that I feel staff should take a back seat to the alumni. I also agree that the scalping needs to be curbed. Why wouldn't joe schmoe buy tickets, turn around and sell them to a broker to scalp? You'd be stupid not to. If the scalping was curbed people that didn't want to go to the games wouldn't buy the tickets, only to make a quick profit.

i had the same situation where I had won the michigan lottery. i ended up taking back my minnesota tickets.

at first the ticket office tried to tell me that it was due to increases in student ticket sales. I told them that was not the case as that deadline passed well before I had won the lottery.

they then told me "we have had increases in "special requests" that we are obligated to fill. all alumni with 3 or less years of time that won the michigan lottery are being bumped to other games and alumni from these other games are losing tickets entirely."
