Mid-Majors and Their Crazy Antics

Wrong glass, Sir.

Great article in the WSJ about the leeches in our midst and their incessant demands for our money.

Here's the thing about the plucky, upstart schools clambering up the ladder of college football's highest echelon: Their time has come. That is, it's time to peel back their fingers and let them fall.

For major-college football leaders to acknowledge the sport's modern reality?not only the money pouring in, but the desperate, destabilizing conference-jumping it's sparked?they must deal with the leeches in their midst.

Everybody wants a pay day and a slice of the big pie; I can understand that.

However, for some of these programs, a trip or two to a place like Ohio State, or Michigan or Alabama to collect a butt whoopin' can bring in a nice chunk of change as well (Florida A&M will reportedly receive $850K for their trip to 'The Shoe in 2013, and Colorado got $1.1 million for their one game here this year), which should be enough money to help the football program AND most of the other programs on campus as well

The point is, they didn't help bake the fucking pie. It's like the story of The Little Red Hen or some shit my sister used to watch on rainy days. All the other talking animals didn't help the chicken when she was busting her ass planting, watering, harvesting the grain, mixing the ingredients, and baking the shit. Then when she was eating, they all wanted some. Fuck that noise, said the little red hen, ya'll motherfuckers didn't help, so you can starve to death for all I give a fuck. Peace.

The tOSU's, USC's, Texas', and even TSUN's all have invested heavily into their football programs for 100 years. They made CFB what it is. Now that goofy half-retarded dog (Boise St) is whining because he doesn't get to eat. Tough shit.

I love these crazy bastards. They're like the Agent Van Alden of Ohio college message boards. They're boring for awhile. You just know though that the crazy is bubbling to the surface, and when it hits, hilarity will ensue.

Wait.. so this person is a big OU fan and wears a Michigan shirt the day before The Game to protest OSU?

Way to rep your team. Wearing your favorite team's colors would not only make more sense, it would get the same point across.

It's funny cause people that didn't attend tOSU wearing Buckeye shit is pathetic. Guess if you're wearing gear of a college you didn't attend just to be a huge bitch, it's cool.

This seems to be a bigger issue with the 3 southern Ohio mid-majors.

I was born a Buckeye, but unfortunately my athletic ability wasn't on the Big 10 level so I ended up in the MAC. I love my school, but when it comes time to play tOSU I'm always hoping for a competitive tOSU win.

From the other side of the country, we have this proof that cranking the retard dial to 11 is not confined to MAC schools.

Yeah, a seat at the dinner for schmucks. I guess it's better than nothing but the income disparity between the big 5 and the rest is still huge.

Jeez, did it ever occur to this fool that there is an income disparity because our schools and conferences produce more fucking revenue! We sell more tickets at higher prices. We turn on more television sets. We're more attractive to bowl games. We sell more merchandise. We have both more and deeper pocketed donors.

Perhaps this assclown should be complaining about why his school can't do better than 18K in a 30K stadium or about why it can't turn on a couple of television sets outside of the 110th largest media market or about how five figures is considered a "big time" donation.

Come down to where the oxygen is, fool. It might do your brain some good.

I know 2 people pretty well who graduated from Bowling Green - both root for Ohio State ALL the time. (One isn't a huge college football fan, but considers himself an Ohio State fan. The other is a big Ohio State fan.) The one seems to want BGSU to win, but doesn't really follow them much. The other probably never went to see a game while there.

I don't know anyone who graduated from Kent State. But the two guys who went there (and left) never rooted for Kent State over Ohio State.

I know one guy who went to Toledo for a while, and dropped out, and then went to Ohio State. He's not much of a college football fan. He just liked to party. He'd root for whichever team the rest of the party is.

I don't know anyone very well who went to Akron, but I work with a couple of guys who went there. They don't seem to care about college football at all, but they don't seem to have anything against Ohio State.

As for Miami, Ohio U, and Cincinnati, the only hatred toward Ohio State I ever see from them is when people post links to their forums. I enjoy the reading.

I grew up in Columbus, and then I went to Case Western, and they HATE Ohio State. They love to point out the fact that they have an overall winning record against Ohio State (Western Reserve has a 6-5-1 record against Ohio State). I point out that Case has an all-time record of 10-11-2 against Ohio State, making the overall record 16-16-3. No - that doesn't fly. They want a game with Ohio State in Cleveland.

Actually, no one at Case even knows they have a team. And most years they aren't far off. I think one year the campus security got a call because the football PA announcer was too loud and someone was trying to study in his dorm room. That's just a rumor though.

As for the thing where you can only be a fan of the school where you went, I say, "Fine - if Ohio State ever plays CWRU, I'll root for the Spartans."

I have lots OU friends and family and quite a few are obnoxious about their tOSU hate. I have tried to close the divide and openly cheer for OU against all other competition and they will come around for a little while but wait two weeks and when they think I'm not around they go right back to trashing the bucks. It is such a little brother complex its absurd. I went to tOSU and cheer for them in all sports, but I also cheer for other Ohio schools I just dont go out of my way to watch them.

I have one confession to make. I have rooted AGAINST tOSU one time. It was a basketball game when Randy Ayers was the coach. They were playing against the bobcats and I my cousin was starting at center for OU. Obviously the buckeyes won, and I wasnt exactly heartbroken over that but I still did cheer for the opponent.

note: due to the antics of the school and its fans over the last 15 years or so I have a very hard time cheering for UC
