Fuck Bobby Reid too.

It didn't add up? You got fucking benched for being a pussy, and now you're letting Tom Friend kiss your boo-boo.

Sure... but all Friend is suggesting is that, on the surface, Gundy's tirade wasn't all it appeared to be. Hence the lead in to the story about how some girl at a party, not knowing who she was talking to, said how she admires Gundy for sticking up for one of his players like that. And then the whole deeper look into the whys and hows that lead to Gundy's reaction and Reid's alternate take on the incident and the events and circumstances that led up to it.

Just like anything else, there's no absolute good guy or bad guy in this story ,regardless of how we may *feel* about it. It certainly appears that Reid had a glass jaw, but it also certainly appears that Gundy gave up on him prematurely. The whole point of the piece was to suggest that perhaps it wasn't the reporter that lit the fuse that led to Gundy's explosion - perhaps there is a *different* perspective that should be explored.

Having said all that, I still think it's a well-written piece...

I agree it was well-written. It just seemed more fiction than non.

"He downed a red-bull..." THAT'S why he was pissed! I get it, he drinks alot of caffiene! It seemed fake to me.

"But I'm a believer where there is smoke, there's fire."

I'm a firm believer in this phrase being bullshit. It was used so often regarding tOSU during 2003/04 that I can never hear or see it and not think of that media smear campaign.

It should be the job of a journalist to investigate the smoke and report actual facts. But these days, that's usually only true in my dream world.

DAMN dude Mike Gundy sat on the sidelines not even paying attention for an *entire* defensive series. He was on the mic in his own world. I mean, he is the offensive coordinator, but he is also the head coach.

At the time, I thought, 'if Okie State loses, he is going to get more flak than ever before.'

But lo and behold, he came back and scored a ton of points, and his offense was on fire for the rest of the game. Pretty incredible. Mastermind move? Or is this guy freaking nuts?

It's hard to believe that Jenni Carlson didn't get the scoop on this story.

Oklahoma State gives Gundy raise, contract extension

MIAMI, Okla. (AP) ? Oklahoma State University football coach Mike Gundy is getting a more than $1 million raise and a contract extension.

The OSU/A&M Board of Regents meeting Friday in Miami agreed to a seven-year contract worth $15.7 million for Gundy.

The contract raises Gundy's yearly salary from $1,053,000 this year to an average of just over $2.2 million per year.
OSU finished the regular

Does anyone think he would leave OkSt, EVER, to coach elsewhere? We're building a top-10 list of "candidates" for an OSU job that isn't even vacant (yet) and when his name cropped up I kind of had to do a double take. Not a name I had seen much off in OSU coach-talk. Is that because everyone is sold he'll never leave OkSt (is his alma mater) or because not many feel he would be qualified?

He makes a good chunk of cash in Stillwater (ending with $2.65M in 2015 I believe) but if he were to make or (gasp!) win the NC this year does anyone think OSU would be interested in contacting him whether you think he'd leave or not?

We have him as the #14 "most wanted" but the more I read and think about the guy the more I think 14 may be a smidge low.

Then there's this...

"It'd be hard to get me from here. It'd be really hard" Gundy said.

Thoughts?
