Mike Leach (HC Mississippi State, a National Treasure, R.I.P.)

Its honestly no different than Texas Tech. Littlest of brothers in state, though there's less talent in MS than TX, but it's not like Tech gets the top tier kids anyway like at MSU.
Leach can find some diamonds in the rough, and he can keep games close with the air raid offense, and like always his defense will be his Achilles heel.

at Tech, he could realistically be at least equal to everyone not named Oklahoma or Texas.

at Mississippi State you are pretty much automatically behind Bama, Auburn, and LSU in division. Most years you’ll also be behind A&M. And depending on who rotates onto schedule from the East, you’re also behind Florida and Georgia.

All of those schools have tremendous built in advantages compared to State.

In the SEC west, Leach getting MSU to that 4th best team behind those 3 would be an accomplishment. And some years he may be beat LSU or Auburn with his offense. UF and UGA are suspect schools who I also could see MSU giving fits as well. If Leach is able to get his schtick to work in Starkville and he can recruit good enough, then I see him having more success than Freshwater and being in the upper tier of the SECW every so often. Leach has become a master at leading mid tier schools to decent success.

consistently finishing 4th would be an accomplishment. Because historically they’re 7th.
Right now Arkansas is doing everything in their power to permanently lock down 7th.
Ole Piss, A&M, and the Pirate battling for best of the rest might be even more entertaining than LSU , Bama, and Auburn battle for the top.
