From a trusted BP source:

Mentor's QB is a junior by the name of Mitch Trubisky. Mitch is about 6'3" and 200 pounds, can throw from the pocket, rolling right and rolling left. I watched Bart Tanski win Mr. Ohio Football running the Mentor offense and without a doubt, Mitch is a better QB than Tanski was. Mitch is bigger, stronger, and faster than Tanski was.

I have heard that some D1 schools are starting to ask about Mitch (haven't heard definitively who), but thought I would give you a heads up on someone who we may be hearing more about next year.

Mitch had a crazy stat line in 2nd round of D1 playoffs last week against Solon. 400 total yards (280 passing and 120 rushing), 6 TD's (4 passing, 2 rushing) and 6 turnovers (4 ints and 2 fumbles). Really bizarre game for Mitch and for the Cardinals as well. Mentor led 35-7 just before half, gave up a TD right before half due to a major brain cramp on special teams. Two quick Solon TD's after half and suddenly it was 35-28. Mentor hung on to win 42-40. (Gotta love high school playoff football!)

Regional final is a rematch, Mentor vs St. Ignatius. Mentor won during the regular season 38-24.

OHSAA football: St. Ignatius slows Mentor's offense, wins Division I regional final

LAKEWOOD, Ohio - The key to beating Mentor's football team is not allowing it to score in bunches early, and keeping quarterback Mitch Trubisky and his band of receivers off the field as much as possible.

Continued...

Trubisky, who was hounded most of the night, completed 12 of 28 passes for 189 yards, a touchdown and an interception as Kavan caught six passes for 103 yards for Mentor.

Mentor QB Mitch Trubisky, Urban Meyer could be good fit

Thursday is an important day for college football coaches, as it's the first day they can call potential recruits.

Mentor junior quarterback Mitch Trubisky expects plenty of calls that day, and they might include one from Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.

There might not be a better potential fit between college coach and high school quarterback in Ohio than Meyer and Trubisky.

In 2001, when Meyer was named Bowling Green's coach, Mentor coach Steve Trivisonno and his staff spent a few days at the school learning the spread offense.

Said Trivisonno about the spread offense Mentor employs now: "Most everything we got came from (Meyer)."

In other words, Trubisky is running a Meyer-inspired offense at Mentor.

Then there's Trubisky himself, a 6-foot-3 strong-armed QB who amassed more than 4,400 yards of total offense and 53 touchdowns this fall as a junior. He's already generated plenty of interest from an assortment of Division I programs, and is intrigued by OSU's hiring of Meyer.

"I'm a big fan of Ohio State," said Trubisky. "I hope they keep showing interest (in me). I love the system, and I love that Urban Meyer is the coach there."

Trubisky visited Ohio State twice this fall for the Michigan State and Wisconsin games. He also attended the Buckeyes' camp last summer, and was a guest of Michigan State for the Spartans' win over the Badgers.

The Mentor quarterback's top schools right now are, in order, West Virginia, Michigan State, Ohio State, Boston College, Wisconsin and Duke.
