Mixed Martial Arts (Official Thread)

Shamrock-Ortiz I was shown on Spike last night. Shamrock got his ass kicked most of the fight. He had one punch in the first round that stunned Ortiz, but that was it.

The fight before it was Arlovski and someone. It was an impressive 1 punch
knockout early in the first round.

I won't spill 40 bones, but I'll definitely watch the replay.

I'll be watching.
Nothing like watching some good fights that make me realize what a wuss I am compared to these beasts.
My buddy has an 8ft projection screen, so that makes it nice as well.

Tito is going to smash Shamrock once again. Not sure I'm willing to shell out $40 to see it.

Sylvia is a cocky bastard, not to mention he's tested positive for steroids in the past. I hope Arlovsky beats beats his ass.

I haven't watch UFC since back in the day when Tank Abbott was beating people to a pulp. He would get worked over against today's athletes. As someone who is only a casual fan, does Ken Shamrock have anything left in the tank? He seems a little old to be getting int he octogon.

I too think Shamrock is way over the hill. I expect Ortiz to play w/ him in round 1 just for kicks..then beat his ass into submission in round 2. I hate Ortiz, but just can't see him losing this fight...

I think Sylvia beat Arlovski. Sylvia can dupe you into thinking he isn't very good because he looks all gangly and shit....kinda out of shape looking. But dude can drill and will make Arlovski his bitch.

I'll be there tommorrow in the crowd, got a seat for $350. Never been to a live UFC show and this one is a can't miss. If you see a hat with a big block O on it that's me. Flying out tommorrow @ 9 a.m., I'll tell you if it was worth the cash when I get back . P.S. I think Ortiz KO's Shamrock in the 2nd round (will be putting some $$ on that at the sportsbook) and Arlovski taps Sylvia in the 3rd when Tim tires (assuming Andre can take a punch).

wow very dissapointing night with both high profile fights

tito absolutely demolished ken in about 1:30

title fight between the pitbull and the maine-iac was very long and very uneventful with sylvia retaining his belt

best fight of the night was joe stevenson vs yves edwards

I, too, was very dissapointed, but does anyone feel that the ref should have let the Tito match go a little longer? My buddies and I weighed on the issue. Those elbows could have done a lot of damage, but I thought Shamrock was about ready to make some sort of move. Overall, very weak. Although, I can't wait to see the Chuck Liddel vs. the Pride Fighter(assuming Liddel beats Sobral.)

people were very pissed after the Tito fight was stopped. But before that the place was pretty electric. Everyone was pumped during the Yves Edwards and Joe Stevenson fight and then the build up as Tito and Ken were walking to the ring was awesome. People were yelling for both fighters and there were some guys pushing and shoving each other in the crowd. It was pretty sweet....until the fight ended in 63 seconds or whatever it was. Was really disappointed in the Arlovski vs. Sylvia fight, what a joke. Also Tito was such a heavy favorite that it wasn't worth betting. At the Hilton he was -600 and Ken was +500 (for the non-gamblers that means you had to bet $600 to win $100 if you bet on Tito and if you bet $100 on Ken you won $500). Overall it was a really cool setting but the fights obviously didn't live up to the hype. All UFC fans should see an event live.
