I don't know about a major meh - this nation is sports starved. More importantly, it's recreation starved. I never typically watch full games on TV and here I was this weekend watching full games, especially yesterday. I very seriously doubt I was the only one doing that.

Oh for sure. By "major meh" I meant more of the end result. If there is a champion crowned there is going to be a certain level of downgrade always held over it.

To each their own I guess. I won't downgrade it at all. If anything, I think it'll be harder than typically is the case because you'll see as we progress through August, certain teams will get desperate and go into playoff mode and it might even revive some of the more fundamental aspects of the game - small ball, stealing bases, moving runners over, etc. Teams might not have time to wait around for 3 run homers. That's going to be fun to watch.

Teams dont really have time to wait around for anything period, haha. A slow start in a 60 game season is gonna be pretty much death sentence. Gotta find some ways to get something going or its curtains.

Right and one injury - like say Verlander's - could have a ripple effect. I don't think Kershaw's will with the Dodgers since they have at least 4 other legit starters in that system but the Astros don't. If the other guys don't pitch particularly well, they could be scuffling until he returns. Houston was already missing Urquidy.
