Marcus Washington’s new plan for his recruitment makes Ohio State’s path to sign him harder
By Ari Wasserman 3m ago

FRISCO, Texas — Four-star wide receiver Marcus Washington of St. Loius Trinity Catholic was a part of the huge official visitors expose Ohio State held last weekend surrounded by its Friday Night Lights camp. And in the week-plus since, the general expectation is that he would soon do what many of the other visitors from that weekend have already done: Commit to the Buckeyes.

Washington was originally supposed to announce his commitment on Aug. 7 in honor of his birthday. That’s not the plan anymore, and because of it the 6-foot-2, 193-pound prospect has opted for an entirely different recruitment. There are two types of recruitments:

Recruitment A: Take official visits over the spring and summer, commit before the senior season and go-all in helping your program of choice close out its recruiting class.

Recruitment B: Take visits over the spring and summer, delay your decision until after your senior season and take official visits to schools during college football’s regular season. Then at the end of the process, have an exciting announcement ceremony that has college football fans on the edge of their seats as National Signing Day approaches.

Washington was supposedly going to be in the bag for Ohio State by mid-August.

But now he’s chosen a “Recruitment B” path.

Cont'd ...

I do not like Ari Wasserman; his attitude and the way he frames stories is almost always unnecessarily negative and cynical.

I’ve also attended media sessions at Ohio State practice with him and he sits and gossips about random things the entire time rather than actually watching the practice, only looking up when there is a commotion to take a note about someone looking good or bad depending on what just happened.

Completely agree. So much so that I unfollowed him on twitter a while back and just don't read his stuff. I think he falls into the classic over-correction error that sports journalists make to be seen as "not a homer"

Thinking maybe he wanted to commit this summer. Then had some friends or someone remind him how fun it can be being recruited and he decided to enjoy the ride. Who wouldn’t. Then urban reminded him how, if he knew he was going to be a buckeye, he could help his class by committing this summer.

Just how it went in my head.

Glad to see his timetable moved back. I hate it when kids drag it out and plan on a signing day decision when they would benefit their own future by committing as soon as they KNOW and becoming a recruiter.

Same... I also find many of his questions unfair or even disrespectful at the post game pressers.

Giant POS if you ask me.
