The traffic here has increased markedly over the past month or two. The number of new posts has risen dramatically, which is a good thing. It's nice to get a taste of the convos that we (I) used to enjoy over at the other site.

I'd like to continue to grow and build, I miss the ongoing chatter that I'd read and contribute to over there -- and I can't go back to the old stomping grounds.

So here's another call for new readers. If you're elsewhere (and I don't just mean BNuts -- at work, at school, on another board, etc.) and come across someone who can offer decent conversation, debate, insight or at least a good sense of humor, invite them over!

The only thing we can gain from that is more to read and type. Which is a good thing IMO, particularly as we suffer through the down time between the loss to scUM, and whatever bowl we end up in.

If half the people here took a second to invite 2 new people over, there'd be a lot more chatter.

C-Dog, right on. It's nice to see several new posts a day, and the almost total lack of flaming (once in a blue moon, an outsider come here via the link on Bucknuts' front page and talks shit). But I really wouldn't want traffic to get to the point that new posts get pushed onto the second page before most folks get a chance to read them. I think if we were to grow to about 500-1000 members, that would be ideal.

Exactly, that's about the level I'm thinking. I don't want a flood where we have to have moderators stressing about making sure dupe threads and other nonesense is washing out the good stuff, but enough where we've all got a couple good convos going at a time.

Everyone knows my story, I've got nothing but idle time on my hands. I'm looking forward to getting back to spending more time talking OSU.

Since walking away from BNuts, I've missed that, and with this place really picking up since October, seems we/I might get it back.

Clarity,

Buckeyeplanet has officially become my favorite OSU related website. The posts have been good natured for the most part, and you have this thing running on all cylinders. Keep up the good work. More traffic would be a good thing, you seem to have good aspirations for what you would like it to become.

This site is nearing critical mass to become a good daily stopping point.

Would be a good idea to reinvite some of the Bucknuts folks who may have stopped by early on but not come back due to lack of traffic. That was my situation for quite a while.

I just did exactly that, Oh8ch.

Selected all users who hadn't been here since before November, and shot them a quick email just letting them know that the conversation had picked up significantly and that it might be a decent time to stop back in and check things out if they were interested.

I'm always hestitant to use group mailing tools, and never would for the purposes of spamming out some sort of self-gain content, but this seemed like one of the few good opportunities to put that to use.

Hopefully we'll get some more good folks back in to check things out, but even as is, there's a ton (relative to months past) of good chatter going on here. I'm pleased with how things are progressing.

I still invite everyone to invite two posters/people over that you respect from elsewhere. This isn't about stealing people away, it's just about another place to talk OSU.

Thanks for the email Clarity! I will start looking here first since Bucknuts has really made a turn for the worst since the Wisky loss. I almost lost it when I read the post by 42Buck after the game on Saturday. Anyways, thanks again for the heads up! I look forward to discussing Buckeye football with intelligent posters.

Thanks for the heads up, Clarity. It got too painful to look over there with all the negativity. While criticizing may be a right, I believe stupidity is not. It certainly is nice to have a site filled with level headed Buckeye fans. Nice to be back , with increased traffic.

I have started making this my first Buckeyes stop everyday now for awhile. Mostly because of all the garbage that is over on the other board. I would like to ask the question though, is it mostly the boards that everybody has a problem with or the whole site and everything that goes with it? I check it out daily also mostly to check the news links, and to see what some of the staff has to say. I think that is about all that is really worth checking out, although the occasionall hot chick thread on the gen. disc. board is not all that bad.

Well I have been a subscriber for a while and obviously a mod over there for a while. I just hate the main board anymore. While I am not trying to pimp the pay part of it, there are good convos/information sans computerbuck on that board. And with the latest additions of Helwagen and Housteau, it is definitely worth it

While I don't think that I am going to subscribe I do listen to the radio hour and read the mag and think that they are pretty good. I just didn't want to express any thoughts or opinions on them if nobody every checked those things or listened to them. There is good info over there but too much crap to wade through to constantly look at it. I don't check out the main board hardly any more.

I don't speak for anyone but myself, but I have zero problem with the site itself, and/or the people who run it. Almost nothing but good feelings there. My only issue is with the main forum, which doesn't even seem to be as completely out of pocket as it used to be.

That forum used to have something that it lost this past year. I can't put my finger on what it is (more of a sense of community maybe?) but it's long gone now. I mean, then, even people who didn't get along/couldn't stand one another knew who each other were.

These days, you've fools like "deezbucknutz" (as an example) on there attacking me for being a "dried up old man who everyone hates", and I don't even know who he is. I mean, I don't think I've ever talked to or near the guy, and while the thought of ripping him a new anus was momentarily appealing, I just didn't see the point. But he's not the issue there, it's a lot of the people like him.

It's not just that there are new trolls and idiots, it's just that a whole new throng of people came in, and at the same time, a TON of the old crew seemed to disappear.

It doesn't help that the new 'generation' is comprised largely of fickle bandwagon fans who seem to be more adolescent regardless of their true age. I mean, they spend more time talking shit, and less time talking football -- at the first sign of trouble, they're ripping anyone and everyone in their path. I mean, I heard they were tearing into Mark Dantonio recently. Puh-leaze.

Some good new posters came in with that crowd, but for the most part they are disgusting little troglodytes, and frankly I was feeling a little dumber every time I read the bile that came from their keyboards.

Couple this with a crackdown on language to the point where "$@%&" literally got Mils banned for a week -- "$@%&" mind you, not an actual word. He put it to use against a well known Cane troll who was again talking crap and starting problems. The Cane is still there, and while Mili is too, he's still the one who got banned.

Anyway, I digress. Bucknuts, good. Their main forum (IMO), riddled with infectious waste.

what clarity said........

and to add......it is the new guys like the deezbucks and such that rip an idea you posted about apart.........you never noticed the person before they ripped you.......then you see a thread the same poster started the day before like.....

"who are the bucks going to play for the 12th game next year....."
or
"why dont the bucks break out black shirts or scarlett pants..."
or
"look at the new picture in my sig...."
or
"does anyone remember the fla-st osu sugar bowl?"

and you just have to laugh........
