Most ovverrated player in college football

Jason White is horribly, horribly overrated, but I think one of the biggest recent "overratings" over the last 10-15 years is Brad Smith (and the rest of his unmerry band of Mizzou Tigers).

By FAR it is Jason White.. I think he may just be the worst Heisman Trophy winner ever... and it is pathetic that he has any chance to win it again...
Very untrue.

ERIC CROUCH?!!! The man had more picks than TDs. He beat out Grossman by about 50-70 votes (each received 700 some total votes).

Jason White is a very bad Heisman winner. But he is a pretty decent QB. The one time when his team needed him to beat Ok State he drove down the field with an injured Peterson mostly on the sidelines. If you put those games in perspective, he is scoring ridiculous amounts of points and OU's defense is keeping OkState in it (no disrespect to oOSU, just stating whose fault it is that the game was close).
I haven't watched all of OU's games or USC's. But I've seen a lot more times where USC needed big playmakers to turn a simple screen or PR into a huge play. Oregon State lost b/c of a PR and a broken play where a TE went in motion and no one picked him up, and Leinhart zung him an instant 25 yd TD. They won by 8.

USC's offense is very impressive too. I've just seen them need playmakers capitalizing on a window of opportunity (and other times they've just totally dominated, like ND). Obviously there is no comparison, but I'll make it anyway: OSU did not deserve much respect offensively after the MSU game. Ginn did. Maybe talk about the future. But OSU's offense was mediocre besides him.

So I think White is overrated in winning a heisman, but underrated as a QB.

My Winner?
Reggie Bush.

Sure he has the blessing of having Matt Leinhart to get him the ball and a great offense to keep the defense from committing to one type of rush. But he is revered for what he does after he gets the ball. Leinhart, White, Peterson all are amazing, but none would do that well if you gave them teh ball in 4 different open field situations and asked them to make something happen. Peterson could a little bit, but without White I think he'd have games like Hart did against OSU (Hart played well from what I saw, but his line gave him no chance 75% of the time).

Brock Berlin. The only reason he looked so great during the 2nd half comebacks against Florida State and Louisville was that he looked so incredibly rotten in the first half. His biggest claim to fame is being the only guy to start conference games in 3 separate conferences. He's overrated bigtime.

Reggie Bush overrated? You are nuts. Don't look at his stats anyway. His stats don't make him look as good as he is. The only reason he isn't going to win the Heisman is because he isn't a QB. There is little doubt he is the best player on his team, and I have him as the #2 guy in the country behind J.J. Arrington. And i'm sure a lot of people would even disagree with putting him that low on a list of best players.

Most overrated player?

Jason White

How about the most overrated Buckeye?

I'm gonna go with Simon Frasior...it's a tough question to answer because I love all the players and my instinct is to feel like all the Buckeyes are underrated.

I don't care if Bush has 300 carries for 3 yards. I'll take him over a lot of highly rated rb's in the nation for the simple fact he's a gamebreaker. He can play a lot of positions and performs in the clutch well. Stats don't show the ability to win a game off one play or the simple fact that anytime he is on the field the entire defense HAS to know where he is all at times.

However,I will say that he shouldn't be up for the heisman already. I'm just saying you cannot totally base "overrated" on stats. Sometimes there are other factors.

Reggie Bush overrated? What games have you been watching the past few months? If anything, he does not get enough credit...without him SCum-West loses 2-3 games this season.

The most overrated players are:
Matt Grootegoed -- All American? Butkus finalist? Being picked over AJ Hawk? It boggles the mind
Jason White -- Adrian Peterson, Kansas State and LSU might concur
Cedric Benson -- too bad he couldn't play Baylor or Kansas or some other overrated Big 12 team not named Oklahoma every week...oh wait, he did
David Pollack -- the Jonathan Sullivan syndrome i.e., soon to be exposed in the pro's now that he doesn't have someone like Marcus Stroud or Richard Seymour playing alongside
Brad Smith -- probably more Gary Pinkel's fault, but he didn't produce
Ernest Shazor -- still waiting for him to "redefine the safety position" as many scUM-North fans predicted on signing day a few years ago

Reggie Bush has fumbled the ball away at least once in each of his teams last SEVEN games. If he wins the Heisman I'm sure he'll be the only one who can say that.
I thought Crouch might compete, but Nebraska only had 9 all year. So he probably was way behind bush.

Yes he would be the only one with that distinction. But then again, playmakers don't win Heismans (at least not consistently). RBs and QBs do, who have 3-5 fumbles max, and probably not even that many if they're up for the Heisman.

THANK YOU SCUMBUSTER!!

Matt Grootegoed is a product of the USC hype machine. I watched USC play 4 times this year and couldn't believe how the commentators were hyping this guy.

He couldn't hold AJ's jock
