Myron Rolle (Future Surgeon)

I think the biggest impact in his decision will be how good the school's academics are that he is going to go to

Ohio State is one of the best schools academically in the nation... Just ask Craig Krenzel

He is smart int he calssroom, he has great size and versatility and should be one of, if not THE top player in the country next year. Bringing him in, along with Ross and Chris already... could this be the best class of any school ever? We are in on so many gusy right now that are top notch at their positions. Myron sounds like a very special player.

Great measurables with room to grow/addweight.
Great athleticism, and even greater potential.

Myron mentions four schools as being his leaders - Oklahoma, Michigan, Miami, and Florida State. No mention of Ohio State.

Kind of surprising that a 4.0 student who wants to major in neurology would be seriously considering the Sooners and the 'Noles....

The article is by Greg Biggins, usually a reliable source:

Rivals on Myron Rolle (2/13/05)

Getting Myron Rolle to campus will be a big win for the bucks. And as opposed to what most casual homers will think, if we don't land him its not a sign of JT not being able to sign. This kid is probably one of the more sought after recruits for his ability to change the passing game of any team (assuming he lives up to his hype). His bro just got thru school with a lot of success and so he'll be riding his brother's hype as well (it is his bro, right?).

Anyway, I think if we can get Myron to campus, we should be able to do a spectacular job selling our Med School facilities as well as the brilliance of our DB coach. We can show the success our corners (Gamble, Plummer, Springs, Clement, Winfield, Ross) and safeties (Allen, Doss, Nickey) have had in being drafted in the pros, better than almost any other school.

edit: Extra suggestions added, any others?

Don't forget Donnie Nickey (Tennessee Titans) and Dustin Fox, who is almost assuredly going to get drafted. And Ross, who did get drafted a few years back, but bounced around a bit and unfortunately is out of the league now I think.

It seems Rolle has trimmed his list so as to ease the pressure from recruiting, with the 5 schools being Michigan, Oklahoma, Miami, Florida State, and Florida. He discusses why he likes these schools in detail. This is likely his final list, and wants to visit each b/f deciding in Dec. His father played at the "U", and is a huge Miami fan. His teammate Lugman Abdallah signed with the "U" , and is also recruiting him there.

I say Coker has the upper leg here with the dad, the teammate, the summer camp honors etc etc...

Coker may have the upper leg, but Myron also has talked more highly of Oklahoma than any other school in particular...
With the way the DBs at Oklahoma were schooled in the Orange Bowl, Rolle could probably walk right in and start. :wink2:

Of course, it could have been the coaching/scheme. Nah, according to Stoops and his presser afterward, it was the definitely the players faults.... :roll2: :roll2:

I would love to play for a coach that takes all the accolades when they win and passes all the blame when they lose... :shake: :tibor:

Rolle wouldn't go to Oklahoma for early playing time:

In this year's class, Oklahoma recruited a 5 star safety, a 4 star safety, two 3 star safeties, and if you count Nic Harris, a 4 star player Michigan tried to recruit as a safety, that's five they just got.

Myron has stated he prefers to play corner, so it would be the depth there that would concern him more...
If he chooses based on depth at the position, he should go to scUM, somehow I doubt Brandon Harrison (who I think will break into the nickel formation) will hardly scare him off. Hopefully tho he sees the moronic play calling by the DC and heads elsewhere, tho that coordinator will be fired before he makes a decision.

I think by the end of next year we will have at least one or two studs that will have emerged in addition to Youboty. They may not be potential AA guys like Ashton, but will provide solid play at the other corner position and not leave as much PT for a guy like this. IMO.

Myron Rolle

By Jamie Newberg National Recruiting Analyst
Date: Feb 23, 2005

Myron Rolle, from The Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey, is one of the top recruits among the class of 2006. Rolle is a standout on both sides of the ball at defensive back and running back. Check out these four video highlight packages.

Myron Rolle recently narrowed down his school choices to Oklahoma, Michigan, Florida State, Miami and Florida. Rolle, 6-2 and 211 pounds, will graduate in December and will be one of the most coveted prospects in the country this recruiting season.

What position will he play? Rolle wants to be a cornerback but he may be too big. But he certainly has the athletic ability to give it a go. Defensively, he is a big time hitter always around the ball. Rolle is physical and fast and covers a lot of ground. He can walk up to the line of scrimmage and attack the offense or play very well in coverage. Rolle is excellent in run support.

I was surprised at how good this kid is at running back. Rolle has home run speed and deceptive quickness for a bigger back. He also shows great instincts and vision. Rolle can make you miss or run right through you. He could certainly play the running back position in college.

His video highlights are below - Video 1 (Defense) Watch Video
