I loved Napoleon Dynamite, I laughed my ass off when I watched it. I've seen it a couple of times. This movie is so cheesy, and pointless, but is one of the funnier flicks that I have seen in a while. It's the type of movie that has plenty of one liners that I am already catching myself using every once and a while.

"What are you going to do today Napoleon?"

"Whatever I feel like doing..........God!!"

Once Napoleon proceeded to throw the action figure out the window attached to a piece of string I knew that this movie was going to be funny/ ultra cheesy.

I agree with the fans of this movie.

I've heard good things about Napolean Dynamite but haven't seen it.

I think some of the funniest movies are the "stupid funny" ones:
Naked Gun series
Dumb & Dumber
Austin Powers
Spaceballs
etc....
I totally agree but's it's blasphemy to leave off of that list one of the best "dumb" movies of all time, AIRPLANE!!

I didn't get that part at all but it was funny as hall.

I never went to school with anybody who did this.

I wouldn't personally put Napoleon Dynamite in the same genre as those. There really aren't any "jokes" in the movie, it's just people interacting with each other.

And I never dangled action figures out the bus window either.

Can someone please tell me in what year that movie was supposed to be set?

Airplane is the best stupid movie ever.
The movie is meant to be "timeless" which is why you can't figure out when it's supposed to be set. It has elements from the 70s, 80s, and 90s in it so that it appeals to a larger audience. I think they pulled it off well.

FWIW, ND is DAAAAMN funny!

At first I thought it was the 80's based on the clothing and such but they have scences where his uncle Rico buys a time machine off of the interent plus his brother Kip meets that girl from an internet chat room.

Uncle Rico's game films that he was making had me laughing my ass off. I also thought that the whole teatherball thing was pretty good.

Man, I think I am going to go and buy the movie today. I almost bought it this weekend, but this thread has pushed me over the edge.

How about the T Shirts that Napoleon sports? Those are classic.

I loved the t-shirts but the moon boots he wears the entire movie are even better.

I watched it last night and then again this morning.

I got lucky, one of my students burned the movie for me as a birthday gift.

What about when Rico fired that steak at Napoleon and blasted him right in the face?

"GAWD, shut up! GOSH"

Saw it for the first time on Friday night...my sister is a senior in college and loved the movie so I had to see what the big deal was about. I admit I laughed pretty good a few times, especially when he told his dance date that the drawing he did of her was probably his best drawing ever and he included a note that there was "plenty mroe where this came from" or something like that.

Favorite lines/scenes anyone?

Tetherball scene at the end. "I caught you a delicious bass."

Not really a line, but the Pegasus Xing sign on Napoleon's door cracks me up every time I see it.

Napoleon's brother: "Don't be jealous because I've been online chatting with babes all day. Plus, you and I both know I'm training to be a cage fighter."

The exchange between Summer's b/f and Napoleon about who to vote for was my favorite scene. Throwing the button then running up the stairs? Good stuff.

The scene about Ligers was really good, too.

It's going to be one of those cult classics, I think.

I think my favorite part is when Napolean and his brother go to Rex's martial arts place, and Rex tries to teach the block technique with his ankle and then punches Napolean's brother in the head for really no reason.

That Summer's boyfriend reminds me of the blonde guy from Office Space, ("Show her my OH face, oh, oh, you know what I'm talking about, Oh.") Looks like him, just a little skinnier.

Another great scene is when he is practicing his dance moves in his room and when he comes out, he just all of a sudden pounds the Gatorade about three times.

Also the part where he gets one of the "Vote for Summer" badges and throws it down the hallway like a girl.

That's some funny shit!

I agree with this being a cult hit. I see Comedy Central showing this movie about every week a few years down the road. Kind of like they did with Office Space for awhile.

Another funny part is when he tells Rico that his grandma called and she said he can leave.

I think that's when Napoleon says a reason he should leave is b/c "Your eating all of our steak!"

i think kip was the best character in this movie.
some of the unmentioned one liners

kip:your mom goes to college.

when uncle rico hits napolean with the steak
kip: that's what i"m talking about

uncle rico: you know i can throw a football 1/4 mile

video tape: are you ready to dance
napolean: yesss

napolean:there is a butt load of gangs at this school. there all after me because i'm pretty handy with a bow staff
