mr. mvp gave that game away, twice, at the same place on the court. Once he got trapped just past midcourt and had the ball stolen... kobre received the past and dribbled it inside to tie it up. Then in OT, nash gets the ball and is trapped for a jump ball at the same spot. Lakers get the tip and kobe knocks down the game winner.

I think Steve Nash just shut up a lot of doubters who had Kobe over him. Suns come back to win series 4-3.

Are you serious?

Nash scored 13 points and had 9 assists and 6 turnovers in Game Seven.

Nash scored 32 points and had 13 assists in Game Six.

Nash scored 22 points and had 4 assists and 4 turnovers in Game Five.

Nash scored 22 points and had 11 assists in Game Four, but lost the game with two crucial turnovers.

Nash had an amazing supporting cast, his numbers werent all that great.

The Point Guard's job is to lead the team to victory, and to make the players around him better. You mention an "amazing support cast", which would probably be a decent supporting cast with an average PG. A PG should not be measured by his numbers (even though he averaged over 10 assists a game in the series), but by if his team wins, which they did even being down 3-1 in the series.

Now, I will continue to state that Nash is not the MVP. But his teammates' numbers are his numbers. Most of the guys on that team are players the Salvation Army wouldn't take.

I know the vote is over, and the playoffs aren't supposed to matter, but I've been leaning more and more to Chauncey and Dirk as the real MVPs of the league this year.

20 years from now, people will wonder how a player who will have made no impact on the NBA, who is not a hall of famer, managed to win 2 MVPs in a row.

We can all argue about his selection, but we can't argue about something else:

He is easily the worst player ever to win consecutive MVP awards. And likely the worst to win 1.

I actually agree with everything you said.

He doesnt deserve to be in the same breath as those that have alread won back to back MVPs.

Just in case somebody wants to argue that point, you may want to start by looking at Wes Unseld in 1969.

Personally, I don't feel like arguing about it, but I thought I'd save somebody else some time. :tongue2:

How did Kobe not finish 3rd and Brand finish 4th? Dirk is a good player but i dont see him as an MVP type player. Seems odd that Kobe for the 2nd most # of 1st place votes yet finished 4 in voting.

How this race wasn't much closer is beyond me. That no other player even received half as many first place votes as Nash speaks volumes... but not about Nash's greatness - more about the media's inability to think critically.

It's not odd considering the number of "Kobe haters" out there. I'm sure there are some yahoos that didn't put him on their ballot anywhere just out of spite.
