NBA Basketball on the rise??

You have a league that was saturated with a failure of skill. My point with one of my friends who is a huge NBA fan has been why should I watch the NBA when it's a league in which a High School kid has enough skill to be competitive? I mean, serisously... if skill sufficient to dominating a bunch of 16 year old kids is all it takes, I'll watch something else.

How many of them high schoolers were actually successful...Yes lots of them had potential, but it was really only the guys that had the physicality to really be able to compete...

The college rule is going to help the game even more, and would be best for a two year rule, as you still have kids leaving earlier than they should, due to thinking they are really ready and two years of college ball would really help everyone involved...

Back to the NBA, I must confess, I am begining to contemplate the idea of checking out the occassional Cavs game because I hear LaBron is unreal (which, of course, I've heard since he was in High School) and worth watching. Frankly, it'll probably take the Cavs getting to the Finals before I'll actually do it though.

If you enjoy basketball I see no reason to not enjoy the NBA to some extent...Yes there are lack of team skills at times due to most of the guys having skill to do thing individually rather than running an offense...

You know when you go to the rec and there is that one guy that can create his own shot and gets a better look than if guys were running off screens...

It is basketball being played with guys that have the highest level of skill out there in the world...Yes at times there is too much individual play, but watching LBJ play vs. watching some college guys that won't get drafted...

Yes there is more heart, guts, caring in college sports which is what makes it great, and that is why big games in the NBA, and the playoffs are best to watch because the guys step up their level of play...

On the first part - absolutely.. very few success stories compared to the number of HS kids taken. And yet.. they kept on taking them.

On the second part - I agree very much. Plus, I think it has elevated the level of play in the college game too.

To me, LBJ is an anomoly.... The guy with incredible talent who wants his team to "get in to it" Something Jordan did too (once he figured out a one man show can't get it done (you listening Kobe?)) He strikes me as far more mature than his years. I did not always feel this way about him, and used to argue that he'd be yet another overhyped failure. He has proven me wrong.

I'm also interested in watching Oden, but obviously that has yet to materialize. Maybe if the Cavs play Portland next year I'll check that game out.

I like to watch a game here and there, but the playoffs only matter cause they play hard. The NBA players play good it's second nature but when the regular season is over it matters more.
I enjoy watching Cleveland because that is my hometown and Lebron is truly unconscious in almost everything he does. I think NBA basketball is very similar to NHL hockey. They only really start to play in the playoffs or very late in the season when home-court advantage might mean something.

I disagree on LBJ...He does more to get his teammates involved than most superstar scorers...He just doesn't have the sidekicks to help him get his team over the top...I think they are on the right track...

See that is another thing that will help NBA popularity is college fans that ill get sucked in by guys coming to school that never would of before...Durant is one and would be getting more pub if he wasn't in Seattle and a really bad team...

I mean if Oden would of went straight to the NBA you wouldn't have any reason at all to watch...:tongue2:
