NBA Discussion (Official Thread)

It’s hard to take a league seriously when star caliber players are traded for no other reason than to dump salary to try and create the next super team. There is no team building anymore. Zero.
It's been garbage since LeBald and his buddies colluded to kick-start the super team era. It's getting worse every year. I haven't paid attention to the nba at all since the end of the 2016-17 season, and just noticed all of the furor and outrage about the Porzingas trade online. I don't know if their attendance or viewership is suffering overall, but i do know a fraction of fans my age give a shit about the nba anymore. There is zero office talk about it now. Like, literally none amongst my social or work circle.

NBA formally proposes changing draft age to 18 to players union

The NBA has formally proposed changing the draft-eligible age requirement from 19 to 18 to the National Basketball Players Association, USA Today reported Thursday.

USA Today, citing a source, reported that the union and its executive director, Michele Roberts, plan to review the proposal at its post-All-Star break meeting Monday. The timing of the formal proposal is not related to the knee injury suffered by Duke freshman and likely No. 1 overall draft pick Zion Williamson on Wednesday night, according to USA Today.

League sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski in October that the sides had been struggling to reach an agreement on lowering the age requirement.

The NBA negotiated the high school players out of the draft in the 2005 CBA. Under Silver, the NBA has changed course on its thinking considering early entry.

Since Chicago's last championship in 1998 the East has only won two titles with teams that did not include D Wade and/or LeBron - Detroit in 2004 and Boston in 2008.

Might this year be the third?

If I had one wish, it'd be for Golden State to have every single illegal screen called every single time, in every single game of a series. Just to see the apoplectic and shambolic looks on their faces as 10 players foul out every game and Green finally snaps and starts beating the shit out of a ref during a TO.

Every NBA player has really stepped up their "What!?! Me???" look in the playoffs, but Golden State has perfected it. I give them a lot of props for creating such a hatable franchise so quickly.

James Harden reminds me more of Carmelo Anthony every day - puts up big offensive numbers but his team goes nowhere.

Fans get excited, he makes big money, but he never actually wins anything. Toss Allen Iverson into that pool as well.
