I hate it when the refs call touch fouls all game long... I'd much rather have a hard fought defensive battle where they slug it out...

Prince was taken out of the first quarter on the lightest foul ever for his 2nd...

The gameplay by both teams has been pretty good otherwise...

And as the 1st quarter wore on the stupid calls evened out

The Spurs are making it pretty clear that last year had a lot more to do with the Lakers laying down like dogs than with Detroit being that good.

Just sayin.

I dunno about that. I think the pistons are good, the spurs are just ridiculously good.

Also, the games would be a lot better if someone could convince Rasheed to take a lot more shots, and if Rip would never see the floor. He is a huge liability on both ends, and in this series he refuses to realize he is too small to try and flop inside. They aren't gonna give him his bs calls like usual.

One thing that sucks it that we've got a series of the last two champions, which is a pretty rare event, and there is little national buzz about it.

It's a shame that the casual NBA fan doesn't care about this series because there's no aspect of the Shaq/Kobe soap opera involved.

I think the "no national buzz" is more attributal to it being two defensive, boring teams( I realize thats a matter of taste but for the average fan NBA games in the 70's are boring) and that the majority of the Pistons lineup is made of guys who are hard to like at best.

I know Detroit isn't considerd a small market but really they are and so is San Antonio. Another factor in the poor TV ratings. Same thing happened when SA played the Nets a few years ago. You will draw the hardcore NBA fan and fans of the 2 teams, the average/casual NBS fan could take it or leave it.

Lakers on the other hand, are like ND, people watch either because they love em or hate em but the bottom line is people watch. Market size, media hype and the Lakers tradition/name value also play a huge part.

I think the entire NBA product is hard to watch nowadays. Before the NBA expanded, you had the Celtics, the Lakers, the Pistons, & the Sixers, all who were stocked with stars, all who can get up & down the court, and all who played compelling basketball.

In the 80's even the crappy teams were a must-see: the Bulls had Jordan, the Hawks had 'Nique, the Jazz had Stockton & Malone, the Rockets had Akeem, the Suns had Tom Chambers, etc.

Even the best team today only has one, maybe two legit stars - no one else on the team can score. And forget about the fast break.
