This was a much different environment than the one Sampson experienced back in June. Getting a chance to meet some of the Buckeye stars on the defensive line was one thing that stood out to the four-star prospect.

“I talked to JT (Tuimoloau) and Zach Harrison the most,” he added. “But every player I got to interact with just told me to keep working.”

Larry Johnson has taken the lead role in Sampson’s recruitment when it comes to his communication with the Buckeyes. From working out with Johnson at camp, to speaking with him during his recruiting process, the D-Line guru has made a good impression.

“Coach J is a smooth dude,” Sampson said. “He reminds me of my grandad.”

Sampson was able to reconnect with Johnson on the visit and meet several of the Buckeye staffers again.

“They all were saying that I was the type of person that they wanted at their school and my film looked really good this year,” he recalled.

With two visits to Columbus under his belt, the Buckeyes have established themselves as a top contender for one of the top prospects in The Tar Heel State.

“They’re one of the top schools on my list,” Sampson stated.

Sampson added that he doesn’t have any other visits currently setup but that he plans to return to Ohio State at some point down the road.
