Georgia has granted wide receiver Uriah LeMay a full release from his scholarship, allowing him to transfer to another program without interference from the Bulldogs. LeMay, a redshirt freshman, informed head coach Mark Richt of his desire to transfer and Richt was understanding.

“Uriah made the decision in order to have a better opportunity for playing time,” Richt said in a two-paragraph news release, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He has our best wishes in achieving all his goals as a student and athlete.”

LeMay is hoping to find a new college football home that will offer more playing time, but he does not leave Georgia without some legal issues looming overhead. He was one of four Georgia players charged with theft by deception in mid-March. LeMay received four various charges for his involvement in the incident and he is still waiting for arraignment. Richt had discussed the possibility of suspensions previously.

UGA receiver transfers to Charlotte

Former Georgia receiver Uriah Lemay is transferring to Charlotte, per NinerReport.com.

Lemay, who informed Georgia last week he would transfer to seek more playing time, was rated as a three-star member of the Bulldogs’ 2013 recruiting class. The native of Matthews, N.C. — a suburb of Charlotte — redshirted last fall for Georgia.

Lemay was one of four Georgia players charged with theft by deception in a check-cashing scheme — the players attempted to cash stipend checks from Georgia multiple times. Lemay was charged with four counts of theft, and may have faced a suspension if he were convicted.
