NCAA Coaches: Bribing Players

louisville, miami, usc, arizona, oksu, south carolina, and auburn.

acc, pac 12, big 12, sec.

surprise, surprise, surprise.

Of some note. The basketball program has been an excellent representative of the University under Matta and I expect it to continue. Ranked among his peers as one of the "clean" coaches in NCAA. We'll ignore the top choice.

this is partly why the big ten just doesn't have enough to produce consistent title winners/contenders. look at the list. save for brey and few, it's composed of either big ten coaches or coaches with big ten histories. to win at the highest level, it's almost a necessity to get in dirty with the aau, which is worse than the college football recruiting scene. in some ways, i completely understand how and why matta's recruiting leveled off. losing bazley, for example, was a foregone conclusion.

Just wait until some of the Adidas' guys start flipping - way, way more schools will be linked. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Kansas & Texas A&M linked after more time. Tip of the iceberg is essentially what they've indicated.

Well I expect it to get pretty big since the FBI basically said call us or we'll call you. So it's better to be on the side the called then the side that is called when it comes to plea bargains.

Not Only that but I expect Adidas to start singing about Nike and Under Armor doing this too cause "it's not just us"

I dunno.....although the IRS specifically lists that illegal income is specifically taxable, I'm going to bet that these guys haven't been including it on their returns. () Seems worth chasing to me just on that aspect, even if it's a short-term net loss to the government.

I'm just happy that my tax dollars are being put to good use, with the federal gov't focusing on things like this, that everyone knows happen and have no real impact on society.

Let's not fight corruption cause everyone knows it's corrupt? I'm sorry but that's a damn stupid statement. Millions of dollars are funneled through these programs based on the results of these games whether you like it or not. Untaxed under the table payments are probably on the level of millions per year as well but no let's just let corruption run rampant cause meh sports. Not worrying about how it can be used to funnel money into a State's economy for this shit.

as has been pointed out, this is an odd position to take. interstate fraud is precisely what the fbi is tasked to target. we're talking abuse of federal grant money and bribery, among other allegations. these are not small charges.

The reason there's "corruption" in the NCAA is b/c it's a multi-billion dollar business that pretends it isn't. Until the NCAA stops being a cartel this kind of stuff will continue to happen.

But I mean, ultimately, what are talking about here? Sneakers and basketball? College athletic budgets? I just personally would want my tax dollars to go towards investigating other, most nefarious criminal pursuits.

If you'd like to isolate the AAU part of this, I truly can't even express how much I don't want my tax dollars being used to investigate 15 year old boys playing basketball and the business surrounding it.

So basically you don't give a shit about government corruption, pork and a bridge to nowhere cause in your words it's not a real impact on society? Cause that's basically what you are arguing.
