Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

http://journalstar.com/sports/huske...cle_81673a45-2b88-5612-9ae6-3c49191ba2eb.html

Mike Riley said the senior quarterback has progressed "normally" through concussion protocol this week, giving Nebraska's head coach optimism Armstrong will be on the field just a week after his head slammed into the turf and knocked him out of the Ohio State game.

Kind of a tough situation for Nebraska. They can't lose if they want to win the Big Ten West. They're tied with Wisconsin and Minnesota. Wisconsin has the tiebreaker over Nebraska. So losing to Minnesota would mean that they'd need Wisconsin AND Minnesota would have to lose 2 games. Even without looking at their schedule, I'm going to say it isn't going to happen.

On the other hand, Nebraska cannot make the mistake of playing him before he's ready. Riley would and should be fired, in that case. He better make sure Armstrong is cleared by anyone who even pretends to be a doctor before they let him put on a helmet.

FWIW......

Son of Hall of Famer Kurt Warner to walk on at Nebraska

Unlike his dad, Kade Warner plays wide receiver, catching 83 passes for 1,063 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior at Desert Mountain High School in Arizona. The 6-2, 205-pounder’s 241 career receptions are a record for the state.

He didn’t have any scholarship offers coming out of high school, but did choose Nebraska over walk-on opportunities at, among others, Arizona State, Iowa and UCLA.

So Nebraska cares about being competitive in basketball? Why? Since when? Is this person just really drunk?

Edit: in context- it appears he's complaining about Nebraska athletics in general.

Either way, it's a funny complaint given their glory days under Osborne. Unless he's saying they should cheat to win again.

Fans are wishing they hadn't fired their former hothead coach.
9-10 wins every year and a little spittle flying around on the sidelines is probably looking pretty nice right about now.

I feel bad for Corn fans. Living in Omaha, I can see the passion they have for the Huskers. Football Saturdays are a huge deal. And they're stuck with an administration that seems content with mediocrity.

One of their boards is saying they should throw money at UWs Peterson. Don't see him leaving, especially with his child getting good medical care of the facilities up in Seattle.

Almost none of them wish for Bo back, as Riley has at least brought in better recruiting classes. But the man just isn't a winner. He's never built what Nebraska wants.

The erosion of the program is when Dr. Tom retired and the AD at the time (Doug Pederson?) ran off Frank Solich. Nebbie lost its identity and tried to be something it wasn't a pass happy west coast offense. Now it is too late as all the recruits don't remember the smash mouth offense and the immovable black shirt defense.

Peterson is a pipe dream. One, he's not leaving the west coast; two, they wouldn't pony up the cash to even get him to answer the phone and force UW to give him the raise they'd give him.
