Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

The guys on The First Team (ESPNU Radio, SIRIUSXM) were clowning the decision for Tristian Gebbia to transfer a couple weeks ago.
I can't blame them at all. Guy could have played a couple of games, left after 3 or 4, still redshirted, and played elsewhere if he so chose.
Gebbia used his redshirt last year... By transferring out to Oregon State when he did, he sits this year and is immediately eligible to play for them next year.

What's this about sending film of the injury to B1G?

Note: I did not see the injury at all. Was it a dirty hit?
Frost claims that they have an angle presumably either from their own game film and or the in stadium video production that wasn't on the game field that didn't look great. This is the best view I've seen and you can see #44 making some questionable motions to the knee/leg after it is pretty clear Martinez was down.

Yeah, looks like he was wrestling a ball away from his leg? The bottom of the pile is a pretty unfriendly place. Generally there's no camera angle on some of the ugly that goes on.

I don't know that what was done was out of the ordinary, by any stretch... but certainly, with a camera on it, I'd filter it up if I were in Frost's shoes as well.

Looks like you've been around as a member for a while... but haven't seen much of you. Welcome to BP.

Here's what I know....

1. Martinez should never have been running the ball in the first place. I chalk that up to a coaching staff that is very aggressive (which I like), being aggressive in a situation they should have been thinking a smidge more conservative. Martinez is your ONLY SCHOLARSHIP QB, you must treat him like a carton of eggs.

2. What happened wasn't egregious, and was slight. May or may not have been intentional, hard to say.

3. Seen worse. There was the time that a Texas A&M player basically "Trumped" Ben Cotton on national television by grabbing his family bag. Repeatedly.

4. Martinez is fine (day to day, meaning he's okay), and I'd believe that Frosty will build a fence around the guy the rest of the year.

OR

He could have come in the game on Saturday and possibly won it, cementing his "I'm a gamer on game day" status.....

I mean, hell, there was once a guy who was an all conference QB that was injured before the season. Bad shoulder. Some guy came in, started every game for the team until in a game against their hated rivals, the guy breaks his leg. The third guy up (who could have transferred) started his first game the following week, won a conference championship, then went on to win a national championship too...

It shows something that John Quincy Adams once said rings true:

"Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish."

And he would've been back on the bench by Michigan and transferring at the end of the season, while having to sit out next year... Look I get it from a Nebraska fan's perspective (I am one) that it would be optimal if he was still on the roster. That said I don't fault him for making the decision he and his family felt was in his best interest. And I think if you asked Frost privately, he'd admit they may have handled things differently in hindsight ala Alabama.

I think Frost screwed this one up. Sometimes you just gotta lie ? Dont know but any situation where you're left with 1 QB is gonna be a bad time.
scUM was in a similar situation in dickrod's first year. IIRC, their only scholarship QBs were Steven Threet, and a very raw true-frosh Justin Feagin (better than Pryor!). Whaddaya know, Threet got hurt and they had to turn to walk-on Nick Sheridan. The results were predictable...
