Never D&D, but I was into alot of other geeky stuff. Magic: The gathering in Jr. High and a Star Wars RPG game for a few years. Now it's mostly MMORPGs (online based games) that show my nerdiness.

Never played D & D. Also knew a bunch of guys who did after school, I was too busy watching the Brady Bunch and Gilligans Island reruns. I could never really get into all that fantasy stuff like the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and the like.

I was on the opposite end of the nerd spectrum. I would read the sportspage until it fell apart. I could quote stats off the top of my head. I knew the batting average for every one of the Pirates starting lineup. All of the all time Steelers stats. I was the guy who signed up for the copy of Baseball and Football Digest in the school library and renewed it until the next issue came out. Once I got to college and the only newspaper I had access to was the Lantern (pre internet) and so I was able to kick my addiction to statistics and replace it with Drugs and Alcohol.

I first tasted the nectar of the goddess (her name was Caroline), summarily dispelling any lingering thought of Dungeons & Dragons as it was clear that participation would preclude subsequent illicit activity. Hence, I became a Level 9 Booty Chaser.

My older brothers were into AD&D. Ironically enough, my one brother who was the most into it has been diagnosed with ADD. Coincidence?

I only played a handful of times in the early 80s and pretty much got bored with it.

Now, fast-forward to 2000. My brothers sent me an innocent-enough looking package in the mail that contained a new copy of EverQuest, the Sony On-line role-playing game. I got way hooked on that and played far too much for two+ years. I had to quit cold-turkey (the timing of which coincided with my engagement - go figure) and haven't played since. I miss parts of it, but certainly not the whole 'time-sink' aspect. I shudder to think how much time I blew on that game. I've been resisting my brother's temptations to start playing newer games that have come out since.

I've been addicted to this blasted online game a couple times in my life (not for the past couple years). I was actually in the middle of one game when I took a trip to Europe and had to check into a bunch of Internet Cafe's to update my stuff. Damn role playing games.

I was huge into D&D when I was young.

Every good D&D kid should remember:

Monster's Manual
Monster's Manual 2
Fiend Folio
Lords and Legends (or soemthing like that)
Oriental Adventurers (how un-PC!)
Dungeon Masters Guide
Player Manual

Hmm, I think that was everything for the manuals. . .

EDIT: How could I say manuals? I meant TOMES.

Lore and Legends was the book.

Not only do I remember them, I still have them. Along with Dieties and Demigods and the Drow of the Underdark. I'm such a nerd.

I initially was just "the little brother" tagging along during the initial D&D days...then games like RIFTS, TMNT, and some I can't remember the names came along and we all switched to those

Good times during the cold ass winters
