The way Whitner was limping around Saturday, I'd be surprised if he starts. But I've been wrong before and I will be again.
Scooter, during coach T's media call, this is what he had to say, sounds good for Whitner......

* On the chances of Rory Nicol, Jay Richardson and Donte Whitner being available this week -- “The guy with the least chance of playing would be Nicol. The other two guys there would be a fairly good chance.”

I don't know how good Coleman will be at doing anything but blocking at TE.. He may be able to catch something short maybe, but at 295lbs.. i dunno how much he'll contribute out of the run game.

Our TE have only caught 14 passes this year, Nicol with only 1 catch. I doubt having a 295 pound blocking TE in his place will hurt in the passing game to much.

RT is the only position on the line without a walk-on in the 2 deep. I see that as a problem.

I certainly agree that the OL depth is a problem, but LT doesn't have a walk-on in the two-deep either. Third string, yes.

LT
77 Rob Sims** 6-4 310 Jr.
71 Steve Rehring 6-8, 315, Fr.
62 John McLaughlin 6-6 300 Sr.-5th

It's not how much you pass to the TE, it's the availability of having the TE being able to catch the ball and run with it. It is important. It's not anything to argue over, but it is important whether or not we do throw to them a lot.

most of the time in a 2-TE set, at least one stays in to block anyway, so it really doesnt matter if only one TE is a pass catching threat.

Datish backs up Mangold, Sims backs up Datish, Rehring backs up Sims

I wouldn't call that depth, by any stretch of the imagination. That's just shuffling. The current and incoming frosh will help solve the problem, although it won't be an instant fix.

The point is, it will take more than one injury at any position before a walk on gets in. Don't get me wrong, I was not , by any means, inferring that we have alot of depth.

Well we have adequete depth at most positions..... Coming into the year we talked about our depth at Linebacker, Cornerback, and also as well at Defensive Tackle.... Thus far that depth has been tremendous because we can sustain one or two injures and still be fine. On the Offensive Line we haven't had any injuries, but we have made some changes. But the only positions we were really worried about Tight Ends, and Defensive Ends have been hit really hard this year. We really still have our depth going for us, and with people like Salley dinged up we still have 2 safties that can start at any time. I'm hope'n a full recovery to all with injures, but I only see problems at Tight End, and Defensive End.

"TE LT LG C RG RT TE
Coleman Rehring Sims Mangold Datish Barton Hamby"

Datish has got to be the most dissappointing lineman on the team. He and Schafer spend most of their time in our backfield.:mad1:
