D'antoni just resigned. Marsh-Melo is such a stiff.

Melo is like Iverson before him. Both score points, are seen as "great" players, but both are ball hogs on one end who play little defense on the other end. Ultimately, they are coach killers in the NBA because no matter what you try to run it gets derailed as soon as they touch the ball. Their value is overstated in the eyes of fans, owners, and media because of their amazing plays they can make on offense when the reality is they hurt their teams in more ways than they help them.

New York would be further ahead had they kept Mozgov, Gallinari and Wilson Chandler, then added Lin and Tyson Chandler. Instead, they're back on the road to cap hell and their team is going nowhere, but Spike Lee is happy because he can root for "stars" whose names he can remember.

With all due respect, D'Antoni is one of the NBA's most overrated coaches in the NBA, IMO. He's done next to nothing with so many different pieces. It's like he doesn't build his players around the scheme he wants to run (whatever that may be). Think back to the days of Phoenix and to his years in NY (Stoudemire x2, Nash, Marion, Shaq, Felton, Galinari, Melo, etc.)

Don't take that as me defending Melo, because I think Melo is a turd bucket.

I thought the Knicks were caving to "fans" and put themselves back into cap hell just when they were finally climbing out of it by making the Melo trade. It was a dumb move and they're paying for it. They chased instant gratification and put their faith into a one-dimensional player.

If Melo even approached A.I.'s level of hustle the team would be 8 games above .500. Melo is just not a player to build a team around. Dude just doesn't have the inner drive to put any team on his back. Until that changes, I doubt this coaching change will do much.

Nah, wasn't intending to include your post into that group. My post was just looking VERY pro Melo, and I am FAR from a fan of his. Liked him a bit coming out of Syracuse, but I just haven't seen the same drive and passion that he showed when playing for the Orange.

Suns would have won the title a few years ago if it weren't for the scuffle with the Spurs. Amare is a B+ player in the league, at best, without Nash. Nash made a lot of guys a lot of money...

Not many guys have the dribbling skills and the awareness that Nash had (still has them, just aging). Imagine if the Knicks had Deron Williams instead of Melo... I think Amare would be one of the league's best F/C in the NBA.

I think Nash is the best PG in the league, his age just devalues him. A lot of people say CP3 (who I think is a close 2nd) or D-Will, but they're obviously budding superstars. Steve Nash is the best overall PG and he really deserves to be traded. The pieces around him are garbage for the most part, save a select few, and he still has the Suns overachieving.

I'd like to see him cap off his career where he found his professional success. Have him and Dirk get their parade lap final seasons together.

He prefers veterans to rookies. He wants the offense to run through his stars. He will run most of his plays for Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire. None of this bodes well for Lin.

Nash is terrible on defense, that's what has always kept him from being in the top 2 or 3 PGs in the league IMO.

So it looks like Amare won't be available for Game 3........nobody is saying exactly what happened, but a glass fire extinguisher case had to be replaced, blood on the floor cleaned up, and Amare left the building with his arm in a sling and his hand majorly wrapped and bandaged.

I thought Rondo getting himself suspended for game two in ATL was dumb but punching a glass fire extinguisher case and putting yourself out for, probably, the series takes stupid to another level.

I'm sure next year that Melo-Amare thing is going to get the Knicks a title.
