Clarity,

Your recent banning has kind of stuck in my craw a bit. I got to thinking about how much fun Bucknuts isn't anymore. I've never seen so much resentment towards a consumer base as I've been seeing recently over there. I've seen what appears to be genuine animosity towards the posters. I have to say it really burns me. I cancelled my subscription (not because of your banning, I just don't feel I've been getting my money's worth).

I got to thinking about what it was that first attracted me to BN. And as I recall, It was from the team page on Yahoo. There would be links to different stories on Bucknuts. I used to read the free articles (good luck finding those now). I was a regular visitor there for a few months before I even knew about the boards. It wasn't until I discovered the community that I really became hooked. There were so many knowledgeable posters back then. I think I learned more about Buckeye football in the first few months over there than I had in the previous 30 plus years of being a fan. Since then, the community has gone south. I hope that it will improve in the future. But then I also hope that Kent State wins a National Championship. I'm guessing he latter is more likely to happen.

Anyhow, this is all leading to a point. Would it be possible to put up a page on Buckeye Planet that links to free stories throughout the internet I realize that it would only take a few minutes on Google for people to find the stories for themselves, but some people are either not as internet savvy, or just plain lazy. My belief is that this would add something for novice fans. I'm guessing that if your provided people with a one stop shop for finding buckeye info on the web it help to draw more people to an already growing community. Anyways, just a thought.

btw: If you find yourself in need of moderators in the future I'd like to volunteer. I'm not the most eloquent or knowledgeable poster out there, but I'm even tempered and believe in applying rules evenly.

Hey KSB,

Sorry about the delay in responding, things have been a little crazy as you know, I'm glad it seems to finally be blowing over.

I do intent to do news. It's going to be served from a special forum into a more traditional headline with [more] links on the front page. I hope to be able to automatically link to any articles that pop up at a list of sites that the engine will poll a couple times a day for any updates. We'll see how all that goes. It's all tied into the same functionality that's going to drive the stats portion of the site, because the other part is that the engine will also scan the articles (hopefully) and link them (if appropriate) to player profile pages. Meaning if it's an article about Ted Ginn, Jr. from the Dispatch or something, then it gets tossed up on the front page with other article listings, and gets added as the top news link for Ted Ginn's profile page as well.
