Our favorite "expert" has a little something to say about the NFL as well. :slappy:

"One area where Jets need to improve is at quarterback. Right now looking at Baker Mayfield in the late first by trading back up is a wise choice. He is very similar to Russel Wilson and might put the Jets over the top. Plus adding an edge rusher to compliment with Kony Ealy. I don't see a lot of weaknesses. 4-5, blew leads to falcons, patriots both superbowl teams. I know what the fuck I am talking about. This team is super close"

What, a missed helmet to helmet call and Freeman gets up woozy and the referees have him leave the game.....stay classy NFL we know you’re more concerned about punishing players for allegedly committing abuse than protecting the players on the field.....

I had no idea where to put this, but I just discovered the pure gold that is Pat Mcafee. If both he and Tony Romo did a broadcast, it would completely destroy. I'm not exaggerating, I think I was crying at one point I was laughing so hard.

im fucking cryin at my desk hahahahahahahahah

RIP Eli's career?

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...-start-geno-smith-over-eli-manning-vs-raiders

The New York Giants will take the field without Eli Manning starting under center for the first time since 2004.

The team announced Tuesday that Geno Smith will start at quarterback Sunday in Oakland versus the Raiders. Coach Ben McAdoo said rookie Davis Webb will also play, if not in Week 13, then some point before the end of the season.

"Geno will start this week," McAdoo said, via the team's official website. "Over the last five games, we will take a look at Geno, and we will also give Davis an opportunity."

The switch ends Manning's streak of 210 consecutive regular-season starts, the second-longest streak by a QB in NFL history, behind Brett Favre (297)

NFL can't have nice things

I still want a scientific study of knee injuries over time for players on grass vs field turf. Feels like 20 years ago the average viewer wouldn't even know what all the ligaments in a knee were named. Now it's commonplace for football players to blow out knee joints without contact -- and these injuries sure seem to be disproportionate for US football players vs athletes in every other major sport in the world.

The stuff is just so spongy I can't fathom any explanation that it's a safe alternative to natural grass.

I get what your saying but how do you take into account advances in meds and PEDs that could be playing a roll? Or the year round training going on vs back in the day. Don’t get me wrong natural grass is where it’s at but I’m not sure how much of roll field turf is playing. Note not your point but the Rams play on natural turf.

I play indoor soccer on field turf and practice on a natural turf field. Not much of a difference I can tell except when I hit the ground

The NFL game is becoming more and more difficult to watch. Referees seemingly control the outcome of the game with their inconsistent calls. What the fuck is PI? The refs are so random in how they interpret it during a game and from game to game. Personal fouls, head shots, launching, roughing the passer are just as bad. It seems that it sometimes depends on who the players are that are involved as to whether a flag is thrown.

Yeah, I've had this discussion with my buds over beers a million times before. You don't see fat people blow out their ACLs in the grocery store reaching back for a package of Oreo cookies.

Maybe it is over-training, PEDs, or too much weights. Maybe there is a mass/body fat/speed equation that is considered the new athletic ideal but is sub-optimal for human longevity. I don't know.

What I do believe is that I don't see elite international soccer players blowing out their knees on grass like football and soccer players from middle school to the NFL are doing on American field turf. Anecdotal observation, of course. I could be wrong... and it wouldn't be the first time.
