Got NFS Underground 2 the other day. It's sweet. It has the GTA-type drive around the city idea, and then you pick up races just about anywhere. Graphics are amazing too.

Biggest knock on the first one was the rubber band AI. Deeper into the game you got, the worse it got. Any sign of that this time?

In the first one, I flew through the first 96 races in a week...10 months later, I'm still on race 97. That one ticks me off...I've gotten sideswiped out of first, just before the finish 3 times!Enough to make you want to burn your PS2.

Ugh... 97...

Exactly the same experience. Did you ever try going through at like 20 miles an hour? They'll go 25. It's hysterical. The AI is set up at the top levels to be yours + Xmph or some such nonsense. So it doesn't matter how well you race. You can never get too far ahead (because they'll break the sound barrier to catch up), and if you wreck, it's over.

Lol, I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it. I think someone sent me NFSU2. The only redeeming value it will have if the AI is the same, is that it's free and I'll trade it in towards something I'd rather have.

As far as I know, they don't have the "catch-up" feature on NFSU 2. I've won a few of the longer races by as much as 40 seconds.

I don't like the SUVs in the game. Novel concept, but they're terrible to drive in. If you wanna race, get a sports car. If you wanna plow thru things, get an SUV.

The AI seems to be quite a bit better on this one--by no means perfect though. Only two complaints here. 1) The other cars can corner better than any human ever could, especially on the hairpins. That gets very annoying. 2) I can lead a race by 6-8 seconds until the last lap, then the other cars just magically seem better on the last lap (maybe I just suck that bad on the last lap). It's a really great game other than those two things.
