Report on the investigation of the Blackhawks org doing a really piss-poor job of handling sexual assault.

I actually read the entire thing. At least some of the other players knew (two said "everyone knew," but others contradicted this), the coaching staff knew, upper management knew. The video coach was texting images and explicit content, in addition to forcing himself on one of the players (Kyle Beach, former #11 pick, has publicly stated that he is John Doe) after they had a threesome with a rando from a bar. The girl from the bar said she left when the abusive coach (Aldrich) cut her and became a little more aggressive (the report did not really go into detail on this, but my wording makes it sound worse than the report does - sounds like it might have been accidental, but the coach said he thought she was starting her period... so...). The incident with the player occurred after she left. There's a detailed description of the incident in the report, which I'm not going to summarize. Joel Quenneville said the team couldn't deal with it at that time due to the run in the postseason (eventually resulted in the Cup).

Just a total fucking disaster. The Hawks GM resigned already. Stan Bowman, son of Scotty Bowman. I assume the Jets' GM Cheveldayoff and Joel Quenneville (now Panthers' coach) will "resign" by the weekend.

Fuck everyone involved in this. Just the absolute worst of humanity.

Chicago Blackhawks owner asks to have name of convicted sex offender removed from Stanley Cup

Chicago Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz wrote a letter to the Hockey Hall of Fame asking for the name of former video coach Brad Aldrich to be removed from the Stanley Cup.

In the letter, obtained by ESPN, Wirtz asks the Hall to "consider x-ing out" Aldrich's name because "while nothing can undo what he did, leaving his name on the most prestigious trophy in sports seems wrong."

Wirtz wrote that "out of respect to each and every player who sacrificed to earn their place in history," the Blackhawks would like the name removed, as it is the franchise's "moral belief" that a convicted sex offender does not belong on the Stanley Cup.

Buffalo Sabres trade Jack Eichel to Vegas Golden Knights

Jack Eichel will get artificial disk replacement surgery as soon as this week, sources told ESPN, after the star was traded from the Buffalo Sabres to the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday morning.

The return for Buffalo is Peyton Krebs, Alex Tuch, a future first-round draft pick and a future second-rounder. Vegas will also get a future third-round draft pick as part of the deal.

If Vegas' first-round pick in 2022 is not a top-10 selection, the Sabres will get a 2022 first-rounder and a 2023 second-rounder, with Vegas getting a 2023 third-rounder. If Vegas' first-round pick in 2022 is a top-10 selection, Buffalo gets a 2023 first-rounder and a 2024 second-rounder, with the Golden Knights getting a 2024 third-rounder.

People will say Buffalo got fleeced, but that's not a bad deal for them given the circumstances. Tuch is a good player, Krebs is a solid prospect and given Vegas' injury situation, chances are that 1st ends up a top-15 pick. So, probably 2 top-6 forwards and a first for an injured player who comes with risk isn't a bad deal all things considered.

I don't think the Eichel deal is bad. Krebs is a good prospect, Tuch is a second-line winger, first and second rounders are what they are. Calgary was also interested and had a decent offer. Eichel said in an interview that he was close to being traded to Colorado at one point. Can you imagine? What the fuck!

I was reading last night that the Calgary offer was supposed to include Tkachuk which was absurd. That was debunked this morning, though.
