N.I.T. (Official Thread)

Gophers beat MTSU in Tennessee to head to Madison Square Garden for the Final Four of the NIT.

Take on Washington to head to the NIT finals. Rodney Williams is dominating this tournament.

Minnesota will look to make it 3 out of the last 5 for the Big Ten (Ohio State- 2008, Penn State- 2009).

Dre Hollins looks to be the real deal. He will be a stud for them as a Sophomore next year. I think they figured out how to play as a team late. They have won 3 road games which is impressive. They definately can beat anyone left in the field.

Semi finals tonight:

7th place PAC12 team vs 5th place A10 team

9th place B1G team vs 1st place PAC12 team

I would think the first place team from the PAC12 should be able to win the NIT. But it would be pretty funny to see the 9th place B1G team win it. :minn:

Well, this will be the first game Washington will have to play outside of the friendly confines of their arena in Seattle. So I think that may make a difference. I'm going to be pulling for the Gophs for sure.

Minnesota could be tough next year if Mbakwe comes back (was granted extra year of eligibility). They came on at the end of the year (should've beaten #4 seed UM in BTT, then won 3 straight road games in the NIT, which is tougher than you might think). Rarely do teams win 3 straight road games to make the NIT semis in NYC.

NIT = No one Interested Tournament

Came up with that all by yourself?

I prefer Not Invited to Tournament, but compared to the Women's NCAAs, The Biggest Loser and Dancing with the Stars the NIT semi finals are quality entertainment.

Gophers blew the late lead but won in OT, 68-67.

So a team that goes 6-12 in the B1G - playing minus 2 starters - takes out a team that went 14-4 in the PAC 12.

Minny gets another PAC12 team Thursday for the title game.

The Gophs should be pretty good with Mbakwe coming back next year....
Some guys have mentioned that he might be better off declaring for the NBA because his knees. I would hate for the kid to have the same problems as Oden . However, he always looked like he was really into the games this year even though he was watching them from the bench.
