Just wondering, after sifting through some of these moronic threads, if there is any way to limit or prevent newbies from starting threads? I know this sounds Nazi, and I'll probably feel differently in a little while, but the idiots that are starting all these bucknutsesque type threads are pissing me off. Hopefully, if these peeps come over from BN, but have to only reply for their first 50-100 posts, then they'll see how things are done over here...

Just a thought. Like I said, I'll probably retract this in a while, but right now I'm 100% for it....

We should have pest patrol... guys like mili and di and you and such... take control of these newbies.... Some might call it hazing. I'd be happy to be such an "enforcer," though I'll be forced to step up my game.

on a related topic, who do you think should start the scum game? i think we should alternate QBs on each down.

I like it, but then ant wouldn't be able to create an new moniker and start racist threads anymore. :p

We are not Nazi's we are the PCP and our goal is to protect the Planet from moron newbies. It might be good to tie the ability to start threads to good rep. A person needs at least 2 green chiclets to start a thread.

Wait a sec, never mind what I said above, it occurs to me, we already have that.

MIght want to make it like 4... I know that if I give a newbie positive rep... it gives them like 3 chicklets right there... same for everyone who's rep is well... whatever... say 8K and up.

Anyway- I tend to think rookie hazing is the best way to handle it.

I hear you, FKA, but some of my best stuff has been because of threads like those. I was cracking myself up responding to Smithlabs last week.

yes but technically......were you responding to him, or was he responding to you? ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I don't randomly throw out green chicklets to newbies. If it's someone I know from BN (i.e. Udogg or NYB) I'll give them rep because they have earned it. It took me a few months to earn 4 chicklets from you salty bastards. :p

Welll that's because there was reletively less 'juice' than there is now. My point is that they should have to get Rep from more than one person.

I could jsut go ding the hell out of them too... if you like... let them start at minus 4...

    Start at minus 4, Brilliant!!!

Truthfully I don't know exactly how the rep works. I must not be very powerful because the rep only goes up or down 1 chiclet when I give it. I do love dinging the hell out of the newbie flamers though.

Yeah, when I give a newbie positive rep, their chicklets go up at least two more. I have given myself time to cool off, and I still think something needs to be done. I like the idea of having "enforcers" though, that can act almost like Pseudo-mod's. They wouldn't have all the powers of a mod, but enough to maybe be able to go in and change idiot newbie posts, or something like that. I'd be more than happy to volunteer...

It's Clarity's site, though, and I guess stuff like this is bound to happen as a site gets as immensely popular as BP has. Still, it would be nice to be able to control the idiocy of these raving lunatics. Yeah, I definitely like the idea of a "goon squad".

Hell half of the mods are the goons...Nothing gets edited or deleted unless it is a 100% flame and that is a rarity.

Newbies should first read and learn, then post once the site and some of its personalities are "learned". At leadt that is my opinion and how I act when I am a newbie on a site. I don't like the Naziesque approach, but if one were to be adopted, I'd say one has to have at least 10 posts before he/she could start a thread.

But we might miss out on that gem of a thread that was started by Smithlabs last week. Probably not since stupidity and moronic ideas do not have a half-life.

let the newbs post. they get roasted by nonBNers....and some newbs dont come from BN, so they dont have that stink on them.

plus its fun to kick their asses around and wait to see if they bitch and flame or if they take their lumps.
