Noah Benched - By His Own Teammates

I doubt that any Frenchman (or Continental European for that matter) - living in countries where wine is consumed ubiquitously and even the children drink wine with dinner - would give two shits about an American law that says it is illegal to drink a beer in a cup without a lid.

Whether that opinion makes him an absolute fool is still open, IMO.
i feel bad for you having to defend this fucking retard just because of where he went to school. it's kind of like clarett with us....except different. it would be more like carrot top winning us the NC in football twice. or urkel.

Actually, I was defending his dad's being called a fool. Noah, OTOH, is a complete fucking idiot for getting caught with weed, and also an idiot for doing something that got him arrested for open container violations. I'm still assuming that he mouthed off, and sticking with that story until I hear otherwise. You do that and you deserve the bad shit that comes your way. Sorry I was not clearer in my prior response.

In New Orleans you can have a go-cup and it is not illegal, so I am not appalled by the immorality of the law breaking, but the stupidity of him being there and yanking some cop's chain. Also, the "NBA lifestyle nonsense needs to end, and the only way to do it is to tell all of the prima donnas that we test for weed, and it is one strike and you are gone for three years. They do not test, so they continue to smoke em up. I blame Noah, but I hate the balls-less NBA brass that let them light up and then acts so hypocritical when they get caught.

Undoubtedly, he "gives two shits" about that American law now. Which, by the way, is irrelevant to the issue at hand, namely whether he thinks that having an open container should be a punishable offense. All of this, of course, ignores the marijuana possession additional charge.

Please explain.

Having an interest in whether a law is on the books in a certain place is an entirely different issue than believing that a certain action should be a punishable offense.

As a concrete example, Noah (the senior) apparently doesn't believe that open container should be a punishable offense. But that is a separate issue from whether he "gives a shit" about an American law prohibiting open container; clearly he does, assuming he cares about his son's future, someone with whom he purports to talk on the phone on a regular basis. Your original post implied that these two separate issues were one and the same. Clearly they are not.

Oh, I don't think that he has any expectation that his son is in danger of any serious fall-out from the arrest, except it may kill some endorsement money. My post may have implied some things to you, but my comment concerned Noah Sr. not seeming to care so much about the open container issue. I merely suggested that his views represent a more European mindset, and that his lack of expressing a great concern doesn't necessarily indicate that he is a fool. That's it.

I meant nothing in defense of his son, nor offered any response that could in the slightest way be seen as an attempt at being profound.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Chicago Bulls forward Joakim Noah accepted a deferred prosecution agreement Wednesday in his marijuana possession case, resulting in six months' probation and a $200 fine.
The former Florida star was charged with possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and for having an open container of alcohol early Sunday in downtown Gainesville. As a first-time offender, he was eligible for the deferred prosecution agreement, the State Attorney's Office said.
