North Carolina Tar Heels (Official Thread)

ScriptOhio

Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
North Carolina made 'state champs' rings after going 8-4, losing Orange Bowl

How can you tell North Carolina hasn’t won anything of significance on the football field?

The Tar Heels just handed out rings with “state champs” written on the side after going 8-4 and losing the Orange Bowl to Texas A&M.

After losing basically every meaningful game on the schedule last fall, the Tar Heels fell to Florida State, Virginia, Notre Dame and Texas A&M (they did not face Clemson last season), North Carolina had to figure out something to celebrate.

Beating NC State, Duke and Wake Forest turned out to be reason enough to celebrate.

Here is a picture of the “state champs” ring provided by North Carolina:

Just sayin': This even out does UCF and their 2017 National Championship claim.

When you're a basketball school you've got to do something to praise the football players.
I had a buddy in college who went on a recruiting visit to UNC as a football player, and he had me laughing because during his football game visit, the announcers shouted out the basketball recruits by name, and ignored the football recruits. Things may have changed since then, but I doubt it

I take it none of these folks paid attention to his last 4 years in Austin?

Woof, I lived in Austin his last year, and damn did he mail it in. And was still riding on the high from the VY NC, and fans were trying to stick up for him using McCoy's injury as an excuse, or they would've beaten Bama(which is a possibility). But Mack tends to come to programs guns blazing, and then hits a wall. His recruiting will still remain pretty high, but on field coaching not so much

The 25-year coaching veteran led the Black Knights to Top-10 national rankings in total defense and scoring defense in 2018, which earned him Broyles Award finalist recognition and prompted national attention during the 2018 postseason coaching carousel. His unique scheme, designed to create havoc with simulated pressure instead of sacrificing coverage on the back end, made him a hot commodity. He also proved to be a tireless recruiter for Mack Brown.

OK, if he was that good why did you fire him:

UNC finished its worst defensive season since 2014 with an abysmal performance in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Dec. 30. South Carolina rolled up 543 total yards of offense at an 8.2 yards-per-play rate, both season highs, and the Gamecocks’ 38 points were nearly double their season average.

Oh, I think most Ohio State fans can relate to that.
