NoSuch Dame LB Manti "Snugglebunny" Te'o (official imaginary thread)

I did not see this coming. Wow!

Not many did. Local buzz had him going to SC, in fact I had heard that he was real close to committing at one point, not sure if that is true, but that just goes to show you how the recruiting world goes. BYU was thought to be up there, and I was very surprised that they didn't make the top 3. UCLA signed two of his teammates, but that didn't seem to be a huge factor. What will be interesting is the fact that he is going to play his freshman year, and then is planning to go on his mission for two years. A lot can happen in that time frame.

Ask Ben Olsen. I gotta say this shocks me as well. Huge get for ND and I'm glad they got him over USC.

The Advertiser's Offensive Co-Player of the Year Robert Toma of Punahou said tonight that he will fax his national letter of intent to Notre Dame tomorrow.

The all-state wide receiver originally verbally committed to UCLA, but did not sign at yesterday's ceremony. He will join childhood friend and Punahou classmate Manti Te'o at the South Bend, Ind., school this fall.

And the saga takes another turn. In my previous post, I mentioned two teammates signing with UCLA. Evidently, I was wrong.

Manti got some playing time last Saturday against Nevada. Damn, he can hit! He wasn't listed in the starting lineup, but he got some good playing time even before halftime I think. ND likes to rotate people in and out on defense, especially at linebacker.

He has a real nose for the ball. They've got him filling in at Will LB on plays now and then, watched him run down the Tailback a few times. He's deceptively fast. He got a big ovation from the student section and others when they saw he was going onto the field for the first time.

have him break one of their QBs in 2 this weekend and then I'll give him some props. until then, he's literally the worst football player who ever lived and should be thrown in jail for being so bad.

According to ESPiN, it was his grandmother, not girlfriend.
They both died.

Notre Dame's Manti Te'o to play through grief on Saturday night
Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o is having a tough week, but that won't keep the senior from playing for the Irish against Michigan State on Saturday night.
In less than 24 hours, Te'o had both his grandmother and girlfriend pass away.
